After testing this problem a little more, I have come to the conclusion that it's not a GPS issue but a volume control one. It would seem that when Navmii is running it takes control of the wave device so RR cannot control it with GPS speed.

At the moment I have to leave Navmii closed until I want to use it, which is a shame as I miss the speed camera warnings the rest of the time.

Is there an easy fix for this where I can force RR as the device that has overriding control of the wave device, or something else along those lines? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If an application is controlling the audio line, it should still allow for other applications to read and control the same line (i.e. using the windows mixer), but if it's constantly setting it (a big no-no for applications), then you can change it outside but it won't matter. Other than that, you'd have to find a setting in the application to disable this "hogging" of the volume control.

For this kind of thing is that windows Vista re-did the volume controls, so you may have better luck with Vista/Win7 (as the Navmii application would only control its OWN volume).

I'll contact Navmii and see what they say then if you think their app shouldn't do that.

I don't know if you've noticed, but the GPS attenuated volume is one of my favourite functions in RR!

There's no thinking that it shouldn't do that...it SHOULDN'T. Could be user error somewhere too...did I just say that...

I would hope that's not the case of a badly coded app...but

What happens is, whatever the volume is when I start Navmii, (even if it's been adjusted by RR for speed) say 40%, then it will 'lock' at that until Navmii issues a voice command and then it is instantly set to whatever the volume is set to in Navmii, in this case 10%.

Annoyingly, 10% is fine for Navmii commands but way too quiet for tunes when doing 50mph.

I might try starting Navmii first and then RR and see what happens, rather than the other way around.

I think posting in the Centrafuse forum is a better way to get answers.
