Motion Lock option in new RR release ??

You are very hard with me guys. Effectively , i can to add a button stop in the video screen to stop the video . it is very trying to use this button if it exist by the driver or the front passenger.I have a Audi a4 2008 with gps and tuner tv , i have the possibility to unlock the video in motion but i don't doing that by security . And i think that an automatic motion lock WITH the possibility to stop it in rr.ini is a possibility who must to be who must be considered .

I am not an angel , some time i use my phone in my car without my hand-free system .

Why not to consider a security option in rr and a specific 'security tab' in rrconfig with several option like the plugin motionlock who don't run in the last rr release!

My position is so stupid ?

Personally I do not think it is a stupid idea at all. Purchase any in-dash unit with video (Pioneer, Alpine, Kenwood ect ect), and they have all sorts of manners of preventing the video working while driving. Parking break sensor, gyro's that detect vehicle motion, gear selector sensors ect. This is law that they have this prevention built it. They are tamper proof, meaning, if you try to disable the built in prevention, it will prevent the unit from working.

None of these in-dash systems have a nice little button to allow you to watch video while moving if you feel like it

I had seen that in dfx4 you have a motionlock but i don't know how it run and what is necessary .

I had just tested the last RR (1/10/2009) and i have no issue

and thats why we chose to build carpc's rather then buying them premade. i like to think america is still a free country, we sure as hell dont need anymore stupid little laws... we cant even drive a car without a seatbelt on- which is clearly a law pushed through by insurance company lobbiests and nobody else (minorities making decisions for the majority because they have too much money).

if i got pulled over for video playin on my carpc, i would just laugh. then i would likely spit on the sidewalk so that i could make the cop's trouble actually worth something

I bet you hate the Airbag regulations, the invention of anti lock breaks and such as well. If it were not for seatbelts and airbags, I would not be here right now typing this. When I had my accident last October, a very bad one, they saved my life. Even with both, I still had 3 broken ribs, 2 cracked ones, a broken nose and a concussion. Without them, there is absolutely no way I would have survived.

As for watching video while driving.... I personally do not want to be on the Interstate, driving along at 75MPH concentrating on the road, and have to worry about some other driver around me engrossed in an episode of LOST!!

That is your right for sure, you can laugh all you want when he pulls you over........ then, when you are finished laughing and spitting, you can simply drive away with your two tickets

In that line of thinking..... It's so sad the government prevents us from walking into a store and buying a bomb off the shelf... You then have to take the time to make one yourself. This somehow makes it a "smart choice" & legal???? I don't thinks so.......

Thanks again John for your support. The guys who want to use their Carpc without motion lock can to do it , it is their right.

I say just that ! I had found two plugins 'motionlock.dll an asrr.dll' who have a motionlock function who don't run with the latest RR release . I just ask if somebody can help me .

If nobody can help me just say it me.

My english is very bad so in french, translate who want!!!

It's my fault , I don't read well the council in the first page .

The motionlock.ini must to be in the same folder than the RideRunner.exe file .

This is untrue. I've installed Pioneer, Alpine, Kenwood, and JVC double din units, and every customer I have installed them for has requested that video and gps features work while driving, and each one I have done it for them. There is no such anti-tamper feature in any unit I've worked on, but the manual does not tell you how to do it. Since my knowledge as an installer goes against what this thread is trying to do, I will keep it to myself. Just wanted to set the record straight.

Best of luck getting the motion lock to work, as I can imagine not that many people / programmers are interested in such features making your quest that much harder.

I have just overheard that a completely new motion lock plugin will be available soon. It will be simple to use, and work with the latest RR releases.

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner! I originally asked festy for his source, for which he did say he'd have no problem giving me...but I ended up just making a new PI instead as I already had it done by the time he replied back. This PI is also up to date with the current PI stds.

Small fyi, for sake of keeping two similar PI's separated, one should never create another PI using the same name as another.
