RR/Winamp Shuffle

I have always added my entire collection to the playlist and let it play on shuffle. Once and a while I would get to a song/artist of an album I liked. I would just take it off shuffle and it would resume normal play mode. I would advance to the next track in the album and so on. Now, when I take it off shuffle in the middle of the playlist it seems to still be shuffled and skip around. It will advance to a different album of the same artist or just continue down alphabetically

but not in order. It's like when I load the playlist of "ALL/Entire" or just using RR MEdia DB to play select "Entire" it loads the Entire Collection pre shuffled. What changed? What can I do to get it to play the entire collection in proper succession? Thanks.

Seriously, I can't understand any of that but maybe try loading Winamp on its own and get your playlist set the way you want.

Well, sorry it didn't meet your IQ.

Load an album songs 1-9.. Put it on shuffle. lets say you are now on track 5. Take shuffle off and when you press to advance to the next track it should be track 6. In my case, when shuffle is turned off for (ie) track 1-9, it will go from track 5 to track whatever it wants ,7,2,4...I did not always do this and I do not recall changing any settings regarding the issue. It just happens to be an on the fly playlist. I Play my entire collection on random, I want to be able to turn random off when I hit an album I like, and have stay there.

Things to try:

1. Is it randomizing the playlist and playing the randomized list in order? Or is it actually jumping to the second song in the playlist while looking at it?

2. Some skins have the same button for loop and shuffle. With Carwings Dynamic you have to hit this button twice to get shuffle turned off because it cycles through shuffle, loop, shuffle and loop, nothing. Or maybe it's random instead of loop, I forget what the other one is, I don't use it.

3. Load the playlist in Winamp and see if it behaves the same way.

Well it was loading the first several songs correctly to the playlist. I have NO odea what I might have done but it seems to be working correctly again after 3 months...Thanks for the good suggestions

You can also disable the hideplayer option and just "view" the songs in winamp's playlist to see what's going on. You may even just look at winamp (outside RR) after you loaded all your songs to see if they're in the desired order. I suggest you try this first on a basic skin like carwings/bmv2 as some skins/plugins can modify the behavior of standard functions.

You're frustrating the hell out of me, this post is just as vague as your original post and makes no sense. Is it fixed? Does it work now? How did you fix it? Other members may have the same issue and will find this thread on a search. It would be helpful for them to have a solution. Thanks.

RRMedia will only shuffle the list if and only if you have the list mode set to random other wise it creates the list in the same order in which is was indexed in (by folders)

It is "fixed"

Here is what I believe my problem was. Aside from having shuffle on in RR, in RR Media I had "Sort By Song Number" on as well. I figured this would arrange songs in albums by Number as most of us would like. But what I think was happening was that it was loading the "All/Entire" into the playlist by "Song Number". So when i got to an Artist with multiple albums containing several songs by that artist with a track # of 8, it would skip to # 8 of each album, and then onto 9, etc.. there for seemingly "still" in shuffle. I changed "play mode" to "by name" and it is back to normal.
