I did not specifically add "tether" as when you "Tether" the phone, you have Internet. It would be a pain to make a poll that had every type of connecting to the internet in the car.
Tethered via Bluetooth through cellphone

got a 3G modem that runs up to 7 mbit/s depending on the network, but also the option to connect to hotspots.. along with that also wireless lan at home that can do 300 mbit/s (draft n) and if needed wired lan also
I teethered a 3G V3xx, a spare phone that is only used in the car. It does dial up everytime the computer starts, but does not mean that the connection is always there.
I also plug my wired ethernet everynow and then, because my wifi is too weak for anything but browsing when the car is in the garage.
I mostly update the carputer via remote connection.

It still amazes me, how people pop in a thread, and do not take the time to vote when it is SO VERY SIMPLE! At the time of this post, this thread has 296 views and around 48 votes.... I just don't get it......

Bear in mind some of those views are you coming in here to check whether anyone has voted. Plus me when I receive an enail notification when anyone posts.
plus some are probably robots who probably don't really know whether they have internet in the car or not.
Also there are the non registered viewers.
Verizon MiFi, 3G access thru the wifi adapter.
If that's not in the car then I can dialup thru my cell phone. I have a dedicated button on my DFX 4.0 main screen to toggle it on/off.

Combination of both... synchronizing small amounts of data throughout the day with my home PC over a tethered device. Synchronizing large amounts of data over wifi when I pull in the parking lot/garage.
Voted for tethered!
- Considering The Data Jack though... I'm an existing AT&T Wireless customer, but want a dedicated car line, and AT&T is wanting $60!!!!! a month, with a cap of 5GB.
