From your own picture on the first thread:



Once you drag the little yellow man to a street in the map, you get the "street view" picture, and the little map with the yellow man on it (above).

Now, on the top left corner of this little map, there is a small maximize icon, click on it, then the map will fill up the bottom part of the screen. Also, on my picture, I had clicked on the satellite button on the top right.

I tested version .6; the buttons you mentioned on the first post (and pictures) are not showing for me. The skin file is the same as before, as the images inside the skin folder?


Also, I tested both plug-ins while doing a short trip today. At first I took MS Virtual Earth, because it loads an initial image faster (lower quality though). It picked up the GPS coordinates fine, but it looked static, like frozen on the same map/traffic info. I though my 3G connection broke, I checked, it was okay. Since I was in traffic, couldn't do much fiddling then.


I understand GTraffic is only north oriented, but with MS Virtual Earth you can do pretty much whatever Google Earth does, without the big application (it shows traffic info, 3D models on the satellite imagery, maps, etc.). Can you make it zoom in and out according to speed, tilt, rotate the map as you turn, etc. while you're driving?


On my way back, I launched Google traffic, same thing happened, it picks up a first image with the current GPS info, but apparently it does not get updated enough times while you're driving. The map was zoomed pretty wide though, and my destinations were inside the map (about 10 miles straigh line). I was using the default, I'll try another zoom setting next time. What is the map reload interval on these apps?

Ok, if i understand, you prefer Ms VirtualEarth .
For GT , i think that i have forgotten to update the skins files . I see that today .
I don't know why it is oriented only north .
For the update , I shall work on it , i hope today also .

I've installed the new version .6 now, much easier to use. All the buttons worked fine, a little jerky sometimes, but I only see that in the car - internet in the car is not that fast.

Again, I did test both applications today, I waited until I was away from home, launched them, and they did pick up my current GPS position. But only that time. All the way home, it didn't load another map, didn't matter if the initial zoom was very detailed. And that happens with both applications. I tried to go back to the main menu, and launch them again, they would reload the same map. I get off RR and launched it again, the same map still.


It still useful though, but as a static picture of your surroundings (traffic, features, etc.). It would be cool if it could follow you around. True we have RREarth for that already, so I'm not sure what's the aim here.
