itunes, roadrunner, id3 tags and video, can't get things set up.

So I'm trying to use itunes for my music player in RR, but I can't seem to get the ID3 tags to show up, browsing by artists doesn't work, and adding songs is a pain because I have to go through each directory for each artist and then each sub directory for album because of the file management system itunes uses. (also I can't get album artwork to display)

The next problem is with video, almost all my video files come form itunes store or podcast downloads they are placed in the same folder as the music, and so when I go to try to play a video I have to find it with many folders and subfolders among my music. (Also I can't get apple ipod video format to play)

Can anyone help me out so I can get RR to play nice with itunes?

i dont use itunes in RR bc the sound quality just isnt as good as others...

Even though RR supports itunes as a player it is a resource hungry program and they added it upon peoples request not because of its quality...

I dont think RR supports all the features of itunes... RR gets music by using a the folder browser and making a playlist off that. if you need more specific criteria then make them in playlists. Unless you are using RRmedia plugin which has some of those features but i dont know if it works with itunes.

again as i said i dont use itunes with RR so dont take this as fact and please if im wrong with any of this someone correct me, but this is what i seemed to gather about it through my times reading through the RR forums here.

If you're settled in not organizing your music/videos, then I can only suggest you to use RRMedia to catalog and organize your songs, then you'll be able to browse/search by artists etc.

RR (as of right now) DOES NOT have support added to browse the itunes library directly (i.e. by artist/title/genre etc). While this can be added, the low demand of itunes users just puts it on a very low priority.

OK so I switched to winamp for my music, and I'm using vlc for my video. VLC is able to play the videos I've downloaded from apple either itunes store purchased tv shows and movies, or video podcast downloads, all of which I believe are mv4 format.

Even though VLC is capable of playing mv4, they do not show up in my video browser in RR. In the RR config under video where you select the video file types, mv4 is not an option, is there anyway to add that?

I already tried adding .mv4 to the list of video file types but that did not work.

You can add it manually to rr.ini -- look for videofiles= and add mv4 to the list of extensions already there (separated by comma), that should take care of it.
