Using VLC for both video and music play.

Right now I'm using win amp for my RR music player, and vlc for my video player. Since VLC is also capable of playing mp3s and other audio files, I was wondering if there was a way to use VLC for both my audio and video and only have one media program running in the background.

It's possible to make an audio player with VLC, however, there are several features that would not work -- equalizer and visualizations are two that most likely wouldn't work. This is the reason why there's no VLC audio player made yet.

OK, so maybe not use VLC, perhaps use a different media player that will do video and audio files, would it be possible to use ONE program for both RR's video and music player?
