    Uac

I found what the issue was. The UAC needs to be changed to in order for RR to be able to startup. I believe the issue has to do with the application being digital signed by Microsoft or not. It is a security measure as Guino mentioned. Solution, simply go to control panel, turn of UAC and RR will startup with no problem.

I did, no issues so far. Video resumes playing, music too, no need to touch the touchscreen like crazy to make it work, but mind you, most of the times my system resumes to the desktop, since I'm still tinkering with it. So yes, it passes those tests in the garage, but that's not REAL life use, of course.

The real test lies in 100x times hibernating - sleep routine. I know people think windows are not supposed to like this, but my HP XP SP3 notebook in the kitchen has not been restarted since about July, and it's solid as rock.

In the car, I haven't been nearly as lucky, not even close. Last time I got a week error free without the magical restarting, I moved my M35 thread (the monster mATX ex-HTPC linked below) from "worklog" to the "completed" thread. I haven't been there with the FX yet. It's those pesky mITX boards, I think.

    Hey RipplingHurst..

I'm curious what it is you're talking about here. My truckputer has recently begun refusing to hibernate. I get the "insufficient resources to complete the API" message. Is this what you're referring to as "magical restarting?" All the searching I do just points to a patch for XP SP2, but I have SP3 and this isn't supposed to be an issue.

    Thanks...
    Mark

I never got that message. By magical restarting I mean that sometimes windows, more than other system, need that re-caching, re-parsing parameters, databases or whatever, just because. A carputer it's like a notebook, only with 10usbs and a couple of COM ports attached, always on: lots of uncertainties there.

Not hibernating? I had that many times, some driver must be awaking the system right after it goes to sleep, it can be a network driver (lan, wi-fi, usb/bluetooth modem) everytime there is a network connection: the driver had a box ticked to the effect that the computer wouldn't hibernate with a connection present. You have to go through all drivers, one by one.

The error message is odd though. I would first scan the HD for errors. Than I would try to save the current system image, and load the last good ghost image you have (hopefully about a week/month old, if you're still tinkering with it). If it works well, than it's not hardware - then that's more difficult. If it does not hibernate with the earlier image, then unplug devices one by one and try to find what it is. That's the best I have to say.

Maybe someone else can go straight to the point of the error message?

I am having trouble getting HDRadio to work with Windows 7.

I am unable to get any sound from the LineIn input unless I enable "Listen to this device" in the recording options from the LineIn device. The only problem with this is that there is always a static sound whether I am listening to the radio or mp3s. The only option listed on the Radio page in RRConfig is "Speakers." I have tried checking that and the "use LineIn plugin" checkbox and it seems to have no effect.

I know the audio setup was completely changed from XP and I have searched for solutions with no luck. Has anyone gone through this successfully? Do I need to add something to the RR.ini file? I am using RideRunner December build, DigitalFX 4.0, Visteon HD radio with mitchs cable. I am using the high definition audio device drivers that came with Win7. Should I try installing new Realtek HD Audio drivers?

Let me know if more information is needed and how I can provide it.

    TRY INSTALLING DRIVERS!!!!!!!!

    let me say it again

    INSTALL DRIVERS

audio control is provided by the driver of the audio system
the supplied ms drivers do not support much

in the directory, VistaMixerControl, run Vista Mixer Control Explorer.exe

what ever is listed IS THE ONLY controls RR can use

so if you dont see any LINE INs...
    -Thanks

I'm having some issues on 64 bit Win7. At first I had flash.ocx crashyness, and installing flash for IE (flash10d.ocx) seems to have fixed that, but RR still hangs at "Starting Player". The player itself is started, but not much else happens, and debug info stops after enumerating the input jacks. Thoughts?
