Thread: how do I launch .lnk in riderunner? (please save me the headache)

That's simple:
-Right click the .lnk file, click Properties.
-Where it says "Target" copy the text in it (say it's "C:\mytarget\mytarget.exe")

The targer is the "PATH" to the application you want to execute. You'll just have to edit/create any button in RR to execute the following command:
"RUNQ;C:\mytarget\mytarget.exe" -- using the text you got from your link.

To assign a button you'll basically have to find a button you don't use or an empty button and change the command on it to that command above. The path that is located in the "target" of my .lnk shortcut looks like this;

"C:\Program Files\2BrightSparks\SyncBack\SyncBack.exe" "test"

Notice the space between the .exe and the test. Basically the "test" makes the program execute this data backup profile called test. When i click my .lnk shortcut the program automatically executes this profile and transfers my files. I also noticed that when i put the above target into windows run app it also executes the profile and transfers my files.

However when I put that target after RUNQ; i get nothing. If i take off the "test" it will open the syncback program, but then i would have to manually select my "test" profile and then click run inside the program which is a pain.

I really wish there was a way to just tell rr to "click" my .lnk shortcut or to run the command the way windows runs it.

Try something like:

I think that's how they're doing it now. However, reading another post from Guino, this might work:

I can't remember if that's how you pass command parameters or not. I vaguely remember doing this for iGuidance's /nowarning parameter.

This code did the trick and everything works perfectly now. I love this forum.

No prob. It's a really obscure way to add parameters to an exe. I really wish RR's documentation was better... perhaps even a wiki.

Sure you can find the answer now SOMEWHERE on the forum... but it's hard to know where to even start looking.

is Y there is a help file being worked on

There was rumor of a help file long before RideRunner even existed. Why not set up a wiki that is accessable to everyone but still has the ability to be added to? A help file being worked on in private helps no one until it's done. Plus with a wiki you can still have control over content but the community can help keep it updated and make it better.

Well it must not be easy to find. I searched for it before I posted about it...

EDIT: Oh you mean the mp3car wiki? Haha, that's nothing more than a forum with wiki articles inside of it, hardly a good way to keep this stuff organized. The vaultwiki imo is a horrible horrible idea. It does not make it any easier to find anything. And there is a THREAD created for each RR wiki article? Erm... I guess it's better than nothing...

Why not just a traditional wiki? They're not hard to set up, they are a breeze to update, they are easy to use and search.
