    Playlist creation

I'm trying to create a button that will auto add music in a directory to a playlist.

Heres what I have come up with.

If I create a batch file (Hidden attribute) and use this

    Code:
    @echo off
    dir /o:n /b /A-H *.* > "C:\MUSIC\playlists\ALTROCK.m3u"
It will create a playlist called ALTROCK.m3u

Unfortunately it will not open with Winamp, just WMP.

    Winamp adds

    "#EXTM3U""
    "#EXTINF: ID TAG"
    "PATH\Filename"

Without creating it manually with Winamp or using a 3rd party application, I cant seem to do this.

Anyone know if this is possible?

The playlist without the #EXTM#U and #EXTINF lines should work fine in winamp as long as the lines have the FULL drive+path+filename -- I know this for a fact because RR itself will create this types of playlists for using with winamp. The file created by the command you posted will likely only have the FILENAMES (without drive or path) -- they should work as long as the playlist file is in the same folder with the files.

You can create the playlists in RR or make some sort of script (or more complex command) to do what you're looking for .. for instance:

    Code:
    del /y ALTROCK.M3U
    for %f in (*.mp3) do echo %cd%\%f%>>C:\MUSIC\playlists\ALTROCK.M3U
    Ride Runner RR's Myspace

    Thanks Guino,

    Here's the code I used.

    Code:
    del /y C:\MUSIC\playlists\ALTROCK.m3u
    for %%f in (*) do echo %cd%\%%f>>C:\MUSIC\playlists\ALTROCK.m3u

When I load up a list of songs in winamp, close RR, and it loads winamp, the previous songs are loaded still. What list is it loading? Do you know the location of this?

    I thought it was

    C:\Program Files\winamp\winamp.m3u

This file doesnt seem to exist.

    Any clue?

winamp NOW (if u using a new version since 5.3x) stores its data, AS IT SHOULD, in the USER PROFILE!!!

in windows7/vista, winamp stores its data:

    C:\Users\mitchjs\AppData\Roaming\Winamp

    with your name in there

i havent used xp in a long time, so its in some %appdata% dir

now, when rr loads, we load rrpl.m3u8

    not by chance using DXF4?
    -Thanks
