    Help embedding apps

Really sorry dudes I know there is a FAQ about this....

But how the chuff do you embed something like rrPetrol into Ride Runner, I have searched for a long time and have found lots of different threads about it.

I tried a couple of things but have had no luck, if this is a commonly asked topic please can you point me to the fundamental thread about this? I would really appriciate it, many thanks in advance and sorry again for the usual 'noob' question.

P.S. I am running the most recent Ride Runner with eLiteLite skin.

RRPetrol is an extension plugin, so you don't really "embed" it. Extension plugins extend the functionality of RR without requiring any kind of messy launch/embedding procedures. Generally speaking, for an extension plugin to work, you just have to copy its DLL into the Plugins folder of RR, register it (regsvr32 plugin.dll) and make sure you take care of any other plugin requirements (skin/files/settings/etc) -- this varies with each plugin. RRPetrol requires skin files to support its screen/function (you can download from its thread if the elite skin doesn't support it directly -- which is probably the case). You should most likely read the readme.txt within the rrpetrol plugin package and it should have any requirements/settings/etc for it to work.

    WooHoo!

Thanks, I just got it roughly working, I'm usually ok at coding but this just completely threw me! But now I can see what to do I rekon I can make it a lot nicer now!

    Thanks again!

    RRPetrol thread

As guino says, please read the readme provided with the plugin.

if Elite Lite does not have skin files for the plugin download the BMV2 ones from the thread.

Then you just need to add a button to the menu screen of elite with the command petrol.

Yeh thanks for the reply E those are the skin files I used.

I just really needed an example, which is what the BMV2 skin provided. Now that I know how it all plugs in I can start adapting the skin to match eLite Lite.
Quite annoying actually, I has all of this working months ago ready to go into the car, but I didn't have a screen. Finally convinced the finacee it would be a good idea and then I got rid of the car to go and finish Uni!

    But now the Saga continues!

Thanks to you both for your help, I will probably need more in the months to come!

    Hi again...

I've just finished making a skin for the eLite Lite which I'll post in the skin thread soon however, I was doing some final tweeking and now rrPetrol wont load at all!

Can you think immedietly of what this could be a problem with? I have checked the menu.skin, Exectbl, added the command "petrol" to the menu button, registered the .bat file and even reinstalled everything and tried swapping my skin files for Enforcer's bmv2 skin files but I cannot seem to get it to load anymore

If you are running RideRunner you should only need the rrpetrol.dll in the rrpetrol folder in the plugins folder and it should load.

if you are running RoadRunner then you will need to add x,rrpetrol to menu.skin

make sure the rrpetrol.dll is registered.

the command petrol should load the petrol.skin as long as rrpetrol is running ok.

add debug=true to rr.ini and check the debug.txt file to see if there is an error with RRPetrol when rr loads the plugins.

add debug=true to the petrol.ini and check the debug.txt in the rrpetol folder. Do not post the contents publically, you can PM them to me or email to the email on my website.
