    Start and Stop Internet Connection

    Hi,
I would ask you what do yuo use to start and stop Internet connection. I'm using my phone connected via bluetooth to the pc. and I have enabled the Weather and Traffic Cams application. I would like to control the internet connection in order to activate it before check the weather or traffic cams and then and deactivate it after the check.

    What is the best way?

    Thank you,
    luigi

If your internet connection to the phone is a standard Dial-Up connection (DUN bluetooth service), you can probably use rasdial.exe to connect/disconnect when desired.

    Code:
    >rasdial /?
    USAGE:
            rasdial entryname [username [password|*]] [/DOMAIN:domain]
                    [/PHONE:phonenumber] [/CALLBACK:callbacknumber]
                    [/PHONEBOOK:phonebookfile] [/PREFIXSUFFIX]

            rasdial [entryname] /DISCONNECT

    Great.
The rasdial is exaclty what I'm looking for.

Is it possible ad this command to the button that opens the Traffic Cams or Weather ? And of course add the rasdial /disconnect when I return to the main menu ?

    thank you again,
    luigi

That's because so incredible few have a clue about how to use it.. NET.exe is a very hany tool for the Sys.Admin.

And if you use it right, it works!

And the statement about "not been widely used since about win95"... Ever used Apache Server on Windows?
(Yeah, I know that most run Apache on *nix, but many use the windows version for debugging and test server).
I believe that MySQL allso use NET for starting and stopping the services.

    Just change the command from:
"WEATHER" to "RUNW;rasdial.exe|myconnection myuser mypassword||WEATHER" -- you can do the same with the traffic cams command... just remember to adjust myconnection myuser mypassword with your connection name, user and password.

For disconnecting just edit the Exit button code (of the screen in question) from:
    "EXIT" to "EXIT||runq;rasdial.exe|/disconnect"
