    Boomzbox Support in RR

    I've been playing with the Boomzbox as my RR Radio and have some questions of Mitch and Guino. Is there a list somewhere that details all the supported commands, labels, indicators, and buttons and how they interact with the BoomzBox interface?

    I ask because there are two signal strength meters in RR - RSignal and HDSignal. I expected that if I tune an HD radio station HDSignal would be active and if I then tuned to a non-HD station RSignal would become active, but the BoomzBox doesn't seem to be read by RR as an RDS tuner. Is there a hardware problem? an interface problem? or a Front-End Source Code problem?

    Several other issues are apparent. HDSUB1-6 only displays one of the channels and only when active (I thought this was supposed to work like XM and all subchannels would send data to the front-end so you could see what was being played on the other subchannels while you listened to one. Several of the stations in my area are not HD but they do send RDS data. I can't seem to figure out how to display RDSTEXT, RDSNAME, etc. from the BoomzBox. Does the BoomzBox support TA, TP, EON, etc.?

    I need tis info to start programming my radio.skins in support of this outstanding tuner. Any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

    its a HDRADIO, not a FULL RDS tuner
    its RDS support, is limited... when you get rds, it just PS, and Text

    the tuner only displays hdradio artist/title for the currently tuned channel
    so use HDARTIST and HDTITLE
    and HDSNAME

    HDSignal is when its digital, might also for convience be there when analog, i forget

    The interface as far as RR is concerned is HDRadio...

    im sure there are some good HD Radio Skins out there...

    oh, btw, someone cleaver programed a program called SKINTOOL, use it, try out the radio commands as documented in NEW Radio Skin Commands.txt
    best way to learn, but i can answer any question u got about it...

    WHOA, don't cleaver me I was just asking if there was a compilation somewhere that someone had already put together for the BoomzBox.

    oh, well now that you mention it...

    yes... been working on a new skin for hdradio for a few days...
    have it done real soon

    fixerofallthing is working on it

    i just wanted to thank bluezx3 and johnwpb for skintool again.... id be a little more lost without it

    Thanks,original concept idea was john's when I was first working on RRMedia. And at the time I didn't really think that I would even use it... But then I did start, and quickly found the first few verions very limited so I just kept more and more time into it and now it has become a tool that skin authors and us devs could not even know how we'd get by without it!

    Well last weekend I went to the Chicago auto show and now I feel depressed. I ran the radio scanlocal channels when I got to the city and low and behold the Boomzbox found 42 stations and 95% were HD. It was amazing! The Boomzbox performed flawlessly and in RR all my labels populated immediately when changing stations. The depression overcame me when I had to leave and once back in St Louis where we have half as many stations and only half our stations are HD.

    I guess its all about the market. Lets hope more stations convert. This is the best CarPC radio I've ever had!
