mitch. i uninstalled Winamp. I don't have any Winamp plugins. There was no Program Files/Winamp directory after uninstallation. The problem still exists. the rrpl.m3u8 playlist still doesn't get cleared or changed.
thanks for your efforts
Hope it's not related to RRMedia either...seeing you are using dfx
ALL SOLVED
a proper WINAMP install would have a paths.ini file in the WINAMP dir
copying the winamp dir say from another system, say OLDER XP
would cause this file to be lost or incorrect
paths.ini
contains (AT LEAST on windows 7):
Code:
[Winamp]
inidir={26}\Winamp
a clean uninstall, reinstall should do fine to
I'm not lying to you mitch, i swear.
screenshot below. I've uninstalled Winamp, re-installed it, deleted the rrpl. created a new completely blank rrpl.m3u8 and it starts up with no playlist. then i add songs to the playlist, exit, restart RR and playlist is blank.
If i open up Winamp, add music to the playlist, open RR, the playlist is there. If I clear the playlist, add a different folder of music, close RR, Open up Winamp, the correct playlist is there. Open Up RR, then the playlist gets merged.
Open up Winamp. Add music folder that has 12 songs. Save that playlist as rrpl.m3u8.
Open RR, playlist is there and working. Clear Playlist. Add a folder of 70 songs.
Close RR
Open up Winamp and the 70 songs are there and the original 12 are gone
Open up RR, it starts playing a song from the original 12. Look at the playlist, there are 12 songs, but 10 of them are from the folder of 70.
Yet, if you play a song that shows one from the 70, the song actually playing is one from the 12.
crazy i know, but it's a clean install of winamp (attached JPG)
we need to keep this simple!!!
stop adding songs to the PLAYLIST
open RR
CLEAR PL
close RR
at this point, are there any winamp.m3u8 files in the WINAMP program files folder?
and then just open winamp... outside of RR
is its PL clear?
opened RR
cleared PL
closed RR
open Winamp, no songs in playlist
no m3u8 files in the Program Files/Winamp directory
good... lets see where they are...
1st, check RRPL.m3u8 in RR root... whats inside that file
and is its time stamp relavent?
winamp should save its PL at, appdata for user/winamp
so
on xp
C:\Documents and Settings\mitchjs\Application Data\Winamp
with your name in there
take a look at the winamp.m3u8 file there
rrpl.m3u8 in the RR root directory is empty. If i try to open it with winamp, winamp opens then open the "Add File/Folder" window. The timestamp is from about an hour ago. the last time I opened it up and cleared out the list and saved an empty rrpl.m3u8 file
winamp.m3u8 in the C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Winamp is completely empty as well. except the time stamp on this is from the last time Winamp tried to open the blank rrpl.m3u8 file
