Question Dual Screen Headache HELP PLEASE!!!

Hi, i am running a 7" lilliput touchscreen as my dash screen (800x480) and 3, 8" 4:3 aspect screens for passenger seats (800x600) showing a 2nd screen on all 3 the same. i have setup my display as 2 screens positioning the second screen exactly below the first in the screen setup. Therefore my Riderunner skin is 800x1080 with all my buttons and driver stuff (gps etc) on the top 800x480 section and the plan is to have the track information, video/tv, radio info display in the bottom 800x600 area.

I can get this to work but what i want is to beable to leave the bottom half playing a film or showing music info/visualisation while the top half does other things like EOBD, GPS, etc.

When i load another menu for top screen i cant get the bottom to stay.

I have had ideas with the MENU command to overlay the 2nd screen content but not sure if this will work or how to make it work. I expect i would have to make a config file that stores info on what feature is currently active on 2nd screen so when changing menus on first screen it will ensure the 2nd screen keeps its content there. Well thats the idea.

If anyone has any ideas or knows of how i could achieve this please do help.

    Many thanks

I think the closest to what you're looking for is the dual monitor feature.. do a search and see what comes up.. the setting in rr.ini is useualmon=true

Why not use the extended desktop?

I am not expert but have been working on a dual monitor skin for a long time. I believe that it is easier to extend your skin right of the desktop and not down and use multipe monitors with the extended desktop.

1: Page 1 on Left of Screen with Touchscreen and buttons

2: Page 2 to the right, no touch screenwith with player labels

this is a fast mock up using jpgs from other skin but I think you get the point.

I beleive though you will need to go to 800x1200 or basically two equal 800x600 screens.
you will find that you cant have two pieces album arts or two visu at the same time and couple of other snafu type things but it can work.

good luck and I hope this helps.

    Exclamation Thanks but...

Ok thanks guys however the reason i have decided to layout my skin with the first screen above the second is due to the fact i am using 2 different screens however both share the same resolution on width therefore i have put the top of the skin as the main 1st screen and the bottom as the duplicated 2nd screen.

My problem isnt displaying more than 1 video/album art/visualisation/etc. My problem is being able to keep half the skin playing a windowed film whilst the other half is being changed for GPS/EOBD/Directory listings/Playlists.

To be honest this could be a normal single screen skin which has 2 halfs. The problem lies with for example needing to call the mp3 player audio_player.skin which therefore means if i already have the video playing on bottom part of skin when i choose mp3 from top part of skin and audio_player.skin loads the video will disapear. Our another example i will be in video_player.skin and click on the menu button, i would like the video to continue playing in the bottom section of the skin exactly as it was but the top section changes to the main menu.skin without effecting the video play back below then allowing me to select gps in top section of screen.

So what i am after is any ideas or if anyone has managed to find a way to load for example audio_player.skin whilst keeping Video_player.skin visable on part of the screen.

Of course i wont be listening to mp3s whilst watching a video however i may be wanting to use the GPS up front whilst passengers watch a film in the back. as i said earlier the fact i am using 2 screens to display 1 large skin is no different to using 1 skin on 1 screen with 2 areas.

Please anyone with any ideas or examples of how i could get this to work.

    Many thanks,
    Chris Mason

Exclamation Sample of my work so far

Ok here is a couple of pics to help show what i mean. Note i have changed my location of 1st and 2nd screen on the skin, the skin is spread across 2 screen outputs, using the windows display properties to arrange the second screen 800x600 above the 1st screen 800 x 480 therefore if you move the mouse up from the 1st screen it will appear at the bottom of the second screen.

On the pictures below the first picture shows an example of how i want to have my skin be when i have pressed menu button whilst in video player.

    .

The second picture is what it would show when selecting Weather from the menu loading the weather function in the bottom half of the screen still keeping the video playing in the top half.

Again the fact i am spreading the skin across 2 screens is irrelivent this could easily be 1 skin on 1 screen just using areas of the screen for different functions, not duplicates of the same function.
