I'd read about "profile mode" in several of the threads, and it seems to be the preferred method of running RR in Win7 (I'm assuming because of the permissions required to change files in Program Files). But I can't seem to find a description of what profile mode means, and how to enable it (doesn't seem to appear in either of the installation FAQs).
Can someone explain it, or point me to a place that does? Thanks.
There is a registry setting that tells the installer to allow the opt of installing in that mode, when installing. He needs to just have the installer allow it if the OS is Vista or newer. Profile mode just puts any file that gets written to, in User Docs/RideRunner and then get organized into folders from there. Only the program files and supporting exe's/dlls go into the normal Program Files folder.
yes, profile mode is the way RR Really should be run on ALL operating systems
if you are interested, PM me
i got a small program i made up to switch and move your data to profile mode
PM me if you want it, and it will switch you to profile mode
and automatically organize RR user data files
This just should be the way the installer does when a clean install is done on the min W7. Sorta pointless to have the two modes if its not gonna be used till the user PM's you...silly!
its not pointless, but better discussed in private
