I'm lovin the skin as it is, with a few tweaks. But I just got Garmin Mobile PC and the bar at the top of the Garmin display takes up too much of the screen.
If I go to 1024x768 the bar gets a little smaller.
Can RR stretch the skin or would I have to recreate all the images and button placements to match the higher resolution?

You can change the resolution of the skin in the general.ini of the skin. As to the look your, mileage may vary.

What do you mean "put Garmin window to be negative"? I'd love to get rid of the Garmin window top bar.

If you open the externalgps.skin file, you will see a line that starts with an A. (It is probably the external.gps skin in your skin file folder.)
In the A line it will look something like A,0,-5,800,520,"iGuidance"
The A is the line type, I believe that it is application in this instance.
The 0,-5,800,520 is the x and y axis of the start of the iGuidance window and the width 800 and height 520 of the window.
If you were to make the -5 more negative, the iGuidance, or in your case the Garmin window move more to the top of the screen, making the Garmin top bar disappear.
You can also do this in the skin editor which should be in your RR install folder.

Using skin editor, the "A" object? that defines where to put the garmin window.
The Y coordinate should be a negative number which will push the window up beyond the edge of the screen.
That fixes everything I was having issue with tonight. It's displaying as much map as possible at 800x600. I'm going to test it out, but I think I'll be happy at this resolution for now.
One last thing to figure out is how to get Que.exe to close when exiting RR.
I know I saw some posts about this so it's search time again.

Don't know if Elite has it but, in DFX 4 there is a .exe called killtask.exe in the scripts folder. You can tell it what program to kill and have it run when you hit the exit button of your skin.
There is also a taskkill.exe in the windows system 32 folder that you could use.

I really like the simple layout of it. I really only want to play music and gps right now.
I've added a few buttons to the audio player already. Play previous artist, next artist and play selected.
I had a VW with a PHAT Box that would play an artist, genre or album completely then automatically play the next. I don't know how to make it play the next automatically but what I've got working so far comes close.

i tried this last night and it works really well. thanks for the tip!! i only made a small adjustment but you can get the idea. in the "garmin" settings file in elite wings skin my settings are now:
A,0,58,800,485,
