yea.. a isolated power supply keeps its ground sepearte from chassis, now it has major advantages when its ioslated
    mostly noise!
in a car, there is TONS of alternator noise on the chassis ground (and thats ok, all good alternators make noise)
it would be the job of the audio eq, to isolate (some isnt made so well)
and if the pcs' ground was isolated, it could keep the noise out of your audio system in the PC, course its not that simple
cause no where can the pc ground touch chassis
    -Thanks

Being a bit of an audiophile you've got me thinking now...

But how on earth could I accomplish a completely separate ground considering I need to draw +12V from the Car Battery, which in turn is grounded to chassis. I probably won't go to that extreme but I'm curious now.

hehe, its almost impossible, because pcs even for cars, arnt designed with any audio thoughts!

it is grounded the the car battery on the INPUT side of the power supply, one thing a DC-DC can do, if designed to, is provide isolation
so the OUTPUT side of the DC-DC converter can be isolated from the INPUT SIDE...

depending on how/what your doing for audio, you could always isolate there, keep in mind, well designed amplifiers, with differntial inputs are your best friend
    (JL audio comes to mind)

the best audio solutions are of course, fully routable audio cards... and using things like audiomulch and VST stuff...
i cant tell you how to do it, cause i never had to do it for myself... i just know that i would want to use the power of the PC to do some fancy DSP stuff
for like a good 3 way system, front mids/font tweats and sub...
then maybe and optionally controlled, 2 rear speakers for movies, since they could be in 5.1
and thats a whole other door...
    -Thanks

So.. Like I said, definitely not happening. lol.. Thanks for the explanation.

Had another thought tonight. I don't have the device yet it's in shipping so I can' test for myself.

How will it handle standby/resume? Will it turn NC relays off @ standby then back on @ resume?

    1) Can this be used inside the home instead of car?

    2) What kind of programming is involved? Is there an already made controller UI?

    3) Can this say turn on the TV by opening the tv remote and connecting the wires to the on/off button?

    4) Can I turn something on for 3seconds and cycle it off?

If so, I definitely want one

    1. sure... why not
    2. soon (but on request) a .dll, you can use any programming lang you like (could even make a simple cmd line app)
    3. yes... but there are better ways to do that
    4. yes... if you can program... even simple scripting languages
    -Thanks

    2) Sounds promising. Do do you have a time frame of when this will be completed?
    3) Can you explain this a little more?
    4) I can't program but if there is an example, I can get it programmed.

Is this the only product that you have? If i wanted to use this with RR, does RR control all 1-4?

no time frame, its essentially complete... just the ugh documentation
if the TV is Ir controlled, use like a USBIRT, if rs232 controlled... well just connect to pc... and send the power on command

no, i make lots of products... www.mjsgadgets.com

    yes, RR controls it all...
    -Thanks
