Here is a small program I just put together that will do the trick. When you run it, it will simply pop-up the Windows search dialog.
It's a bit large at 230k, but as far as I know, there is no way to send the Windows key in VB.
Hi,
I am trying to make a button that brings up windows search, there is no exe file for my search, the shortcuts are the windows logo key+f, or the F3 key. I have tried everything I can think of to no avail. Any help will be greatly appreciated,
Thanks
James

Perfect! thanks a million!
I actually have another quick question, Is there a quick easy way to make that open in a set little window type area? What I'm trying to do is make a skin with buttons that open different programs, buttons on the left and the specified program opens on the right.I want to do this staying in the same skin. I cannot write programing at all..... but I have the skin and all the button created and working, but the programs open where ever they want to...
Thanks!
Sounds like what your trying to do is to embed different programs in one screen with button on the say the left of what to embed. You can do this already right within RR. See the "Launch.skin" screen and Launch folder in your RR folder for the example, in the included RR carwings skin.

Something to that effect, I'm running a skin set that I customized from the downloaded "Mazda 6 lite" set. I want an OBDII skin in which I can load a couple different programs, an apps skin (which does work because its the built in "launch skin"), a game skin, and possibly a media skin. I got everything created, I just cant get the programs to open where i need them to, like the launch set does... I copied the launch folder and skin and renamed them to "test" just to see if it would work, but it wont work like that.
renaming of skin names isnt always a smart thing
one thing to know about Ride Runner
its SKIN based
so, the name of the skin, is very important

So, I guess it is ot going to be an easy task....hmmmmm.
The reason they are opening where ever they want is because you are not capturing/embedding them.
The button that launches them needs to have the window name in it (see the FAQ on embedding applications).
Not sure what happens if you try to embed an app into a screen which already has an app embedded in it.
But you can make your button command exit the screen and then load it with the new app.
However you can't have two apps embeeded in different places on the same screen and see them both at the same time.
