Alright well I'm using RR as my front end, but when i play music i cannot control the volume/mute in RR. The buttons do nothing. I am using Breakaway in the background as well to filter the music quality and the only way i can lower volume is through breakaway for some reason. Its just a pain to exit the front end and go to breakaway to adjust then go back into RR. Any ideas guys?

time to check the breakaway audio review thread:

there are ways to get the volume control to work, but nothing is implemented when it is first installed.

i really haven't tried it much-- i use a external program for audio tweaking, and i use a external volume control..
but i am downloading breakaway now, and have some ideas. let me get back to you in a couple minutes/hours..

ok, i'm back and dissapointed.
i cannot get the rr volume control to work with the minimal amount that i know(tweaking settings).. next, i will attempt to screw up my pc by editing the ini file, but it might be best to wait for someone with better programming experience..

:P you don't have to go through drastic measures if your files will be at risk! I just couldn't figure it out myself either, was wondering if its just not possible..or if i was really not seeing/doing something right. Maybe some one here has got this to work previously, hopefully they speak up :P, I do like breakaway, is there any other program like it I could use yet be able to control the volume?
soundman thanks for the try. I am not sure why no one has tried it. I dont even know where to start. Whos brain should we pick for this one?
bluezx3, and mitch come to mind--either should be able to help more with the in-depth coding that this might require... i just haven't taken enough time to pick apart rr to understand it all yet..
i will sending a pm to the creator of breakaway very shortly--possibly to see if he can update it to be a little more forgiving on the sound devices it see's(one outside program that will allow volume control is Virtual Audio Cable--VAC, but it doesn't show up in the available list in the breakaway menu)
