    Problems installing radio

    I have the DigitalCaRadio but I am having problems getting RR to recognize it (or for that matter any radio I may choose). In CarWings, I get the error message:

    "Radio Support

    Radio not Configure

    You are trying to use a Radio which has not been Installed/Configured.
    Please run RRConfig and select the Radio you wish to use."

    But I did this (multiple times) and the error message is always the same. I even tried other radio options different from DigitalCaRadio to see if that might at least get rid of the error message. Any ideas?

    P.S.
    I have this problem on both my laptop (which doesn't have the radio connected to it, and my car pc which has the radio connected to it).

    in rr.ini

    Radio=PLabsRR

    not to mention, you did select it to be installed when you ran the installer?

    debug.txt with radiodebug on, would prob tell you all you need to know (hopefully)

    course all the normal stuff i would blast someone with apply
    rr version, os version...things like that

    I had some issues with my monitor so the radio took a back seat for a little while. Anyways I did what you said and made Radio=PLabsRR an still I get the same error. RRConfig does not list PLabsR as a choice, so if I open it up, it changes my manual edit to just "Radio=". Before your post I was choosing DigitalCarRadio and it sets it to "Radio=DigitalCarRadio".

    I also enabled debugging but I don't really know what I'm looking for. Maybe you or someone else could help (I have attached both the debug and rr.ini files).

    Lastly, I am pretty sure I installed the radios when I installed RR,but I guess it is possible I did not...is there a way to check for this and install just the missing components?

    thanks for your help.

    just run the rr installer and pick the radios yous want...

    Radio=Plabs comes to mind...

    not Radio=DigitalCarRadio

    try both... dont use RRCONFIG... edit manually!

    ill fix rrconfig... im 100% sure is PLabs

    Ok Radio=Plabs is giving me something new, but when I first launch RR, I get an error (windows dialog box) that says "file not found: RadioModules\Plabs\plabs_radio_dll_vc2008.dll". I notice this file and PlabsRR.dll are located in RadioModules\DigitalCar\, I am going to try renaming folder from DigitalCar to Plabs, since that's what it seems to be looking for.

    Edit:
    Renaming the folder did not work. I suspect that RR is looking for PlabsRR.dll under the DigitalCar folder and also looking for plabs_radio_dll_vc2008.dll under Plabs folder. I did manage to get it working though, I copied the DigitalCar folder (which contains both files) and renamed the folder to Plabs...so now I have 2 folders (Plabs and DigitalCar) each with the same 2 files inside them. I probably don't need both files in each folder, but it works and they are small enough files that it doesn't really bother me.

    Well I'm glad it works I could help find the bug. I know it's little harder to get a hold of this tuner since the company is in russia, but I think it's a really simple clean install. Just plug one end into a usb port and the other into the car's factory antenna wire.

    So at the risk of sounding stupid, what does registering a dll do? I know how, just wondering what that will do since it already works?

    it tells the OS about the code in the .dll then other programs in this case can use it...

    its called a Com Object or ActiveX (really a pain at times, can cause dll hell)

    to register its in command box...
    (in the folder of the dll)

    regsvr32 thenameofthedll.dll

    I think I would prefer to go this route so that I get any new features and bug fixes also. I should just delete the digitalcar folder and none of the riderunner folders right?
