Maybe the issue could be related to the window name which can be different than original one (when igo8 is not embedded into RR)...
Yes
No
I recently started a project of "re-skinning" igo 8 to make it look nice and pretty and so no re-sizing program is required. For my purposes I am making it look like eLite 2 and it will run at 800x420 to leave room at the bottom for the media controls in RR. I eventually want to integrate the indicators, song information, theme, and font settings from RR and elite 2 into igo8.
Anyways I've been working on it for the last week and made quite a bit of progress, but I finally ran into a problem that I could use some help with.
I've created a new settings state which works by turning on and off layers, and it works great except for one thing. When I turn on the layer for setting road types (ie route parameters) it always turns on Highways, Ferries, Cross-Border Planning, Per-use Toll, and Road Tax and it always turns off Unpaved roads, Permit Needed, and Carpool. When I created the layer I copied the original layer. All I did differently was change the x, y, w, h, bmp, and font settings. I have also tried using the old layer instead of the one I created and it has the same problem, so I don't think it's anything in the layer. I went back to my original copy of iGO8 and it works perfectly. I went through all the scripts I have changed and I have not found anything dealing with this.
I know this isn't really an RR question, but I'm hoping someone here can help me figure it out. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of knowledge out there about skinning iGO8 and how it actually works.
Thanks!
Here are also two screens of the project so far!

I have not changed the window name. I have not embedded it in to RR yet as the skin I use is 800x480 and igo8 is also 800x480, hence why I am re-skinning it to 800x420!
Turns out the issue was outside of what I had changed. I'm not sure exactly where the issue was but I replaced all the files in the igo8 path, except the data.zip, with the original ones and the problem went away.
so did you get this finalized. And what version of iGo are you running this skin with?

its a shame they dont publicly release iGo 8.3, its the best nav program i have, and its really only beta-ware lol. Instead of creating a skin (which i looked at and looked like a HUGE task) i just resized the default skin to match the (A) area of the eLite 2 external_gps.skin. Luckily there was a program available to handle the resize for me.

In my opinion iGo is the best navigation software. I had a pioneer dvd nav system with igo on it and i thought it was great. Then when working on this project I tried a lot of other nav programs and none of them could hold a candle to igo. I have found that it is very customizable but there is no documentation on how to do it. This can prove to be difficult skinning igo for someone who is not a computer programmer but not impossible.
I know there are resize programs available for igo but I like to make everything more difficult than it needs to be. In the end it will be worth it though. Maybe I can find some time to finish up this part of the project this summer.
