Medialists and their usage with custom lists

Way back in October Medialists were introduced and i'm surprised they haven't been used more in skins! But I was wondering if there's any plan to extend them so that they can be utilized with something other than tag data. I was thinking that maybe a new parameter could be used with custom lists so that when the CL is loaded it can read the variable from file (or manually entered via CLADD

Seems it would be pretty easy to implement.. something along the lines of:

CLADD;mycltext;mycldesc;%mycustomtag%mytagdata

then reference %mycustomtag% in the ML line.

Doable? any plans on media list expansion?

ML list data comes from media file TAGS, there is no TAG concept in CLs, we would need to do something like what you suggest
and not to mention the CL file format...

I still need to add a few ML list data items, when looking at folders, ie # of files in folder, and size of folder

its quite a bit of work...

Mitch, would it also be possible to include ML it in the Sirius / Xm playlist?
Right now if you try to use it, depending on the amount of playlist items in your audio playlist, it will replace the Sirius / Xm station names/ artist / track information.

Example: If there are 10 tracks in audio playlist they will show up as the station 1 - 10 in Xm.

this is on the list, it actually has higher priority than the CustomList concept, because, CL has no data, it has to be invented from thin air
while xm, and SR we can do...
its quite a bit of work none the less... i have been working on rr a lot lately, but not this stuff...

there is no multi line list support for CL, at this time, or in planning
since there is no defined meta data
thats how ML work, they populate from metadata(ID3 Tags) from files
CL, really has no metadata, its only data is 2 elements, one visable, one hidden
1st would have to develop a whole new concept of the CL and its data
then one could define a multiline view of the data
i have ideas how to do it... but
its quite a bit of work, and currently not in my plans, anytime soon, im so swampped with other projects
