I have never received a registration email that I know of, just the invoice with the "purchase" transaction number.
And what is the HD serial number. Never been asked for that or received anything like that.
I just update when I get the reminder screen.

You're not the only one....I never received a registration number either...there's something hokie pokie going on here with this download!!!
As a free software, why the heck do you have to have a HD serial#??? wow....So you mean, I cant download it onto my flash drive and then walk it to my car and install it??? Hmmmmmmmmm....ok, fine...where do I go and pay for this darn thing???
