Thread: Fresh Install Crashes

Ok...

RR operated perfectly fine. Made sounds when I pressed buttons etc.
BUT when I press the 'Music' button it completely froze, I couldn't do anything, just locked up.
Removed those 2 'play sound on button press' commands or whatever they were and everything worked perfectly.
Debug file also shows that winamp is opening properly and its picking up the version as well this time.

Those 2 commands also seemed to be affecting the DFX skin as well. It froze on started previously, but once they were removed it worked fine.

So whatever those commands do on initialisation in RR was causing problems in bootup to a couple other things (DFX skin and winamp in my case).

New debug now everything is working:
debugRR.txt

see its just too weird..

to prove it, would be to put those lines back in and test...

Added them back into the Reborn skin... no issues! Debug file is perfect.

Tried the default Carwings_Dynamic_Lite skin... no issues! Debug file is perfect.

Ok now I am hopelessly confused. I hate problems like this. Oh well Mitch... guess this hasn't made it any easier for you, but at least you don't have anything to fix until I can replicate the issue again...

Repeated the process again today and this time it didn't work. I give up. Don't need the button 'click' noise anyway.

I have almost identical problems to what you are experiencing RE the freezing after pressing Music. I have found one thing with my hardware - my motherboard is one of the ASROCK AD2700-ITX boards with built in Atom 2.13ghz dual core CPU's, 4 gig DDR and a 32gb SSD. This motherboard is only supported to DirectX 9.0. However Win7 installs DirectX 11 (after running dxdiag). I'm not sure how much rendering RR does with DirectX but this could be an issue?? Do you have similar problems Poita?

I am all new to the carputer scene but have a very good understanding technically how it's all compiled and operates, as that's what I do for a living as a Sys Admin.

Sitting at idle, RR is running approx. 45-50% CPU which I thought was kinda high... thoughts?

Occasionally things work great, but the next time the PC is started it freezes then crashes... it's becoming more and more frustrating!!

Please let me know how you get on as I'm willing to try anything!!
