Thread: Letters overlapping or cut off

your running out of aspect
if the skin is made for 4:3, and your asking it to be 16:9 its going to look wierd
same thing visa versa..

the skin's general.ini controls how things will be scaled

as for fonts,
is there custom fonts for this skin? did u install them?
windows DPI setting to normal?

I didnt touch a thing.....Me installing custom fonts? hahahah I have NO clue how I even installed the BMW skin!!!! But at least it's on the screen...huge step for me, yay!

Ill see how I can change the dpi in windows and see if that changes anything...

a lot of skins have CUSTOM fonts, all skins should have installers, BUT VERY SADLY that is not the case

look in the dang !FONTS folder!

install the fonts, then worry about DPI, if u didnt touch windows DPI, then dont

also looking at that skin, the BMW logos is squeezed into the box in the center
so its NOT going to be 100% round

using windows 7, right click on the fonts, say install...

also, date and time format comes into play, PAGE 1 in General in RRCONFIG, go with short date, short time, for starters

there is alot ot learn in RR, cause its COMPLETLY flexiable!

it does look good in 16x9

i change the general.ini to:
OriginalWidth=800
OriginalHeight=600
ShowWidth=800
ShowHeight=480

and now...

no idea what that white line is to right of time/data

this is an older skin, would NEED lots of TLC to whip it into shape

Oh man....do you know where I could pick up a newer version? I really love this BMW skin, it would fit my car perfectly and would give me a really good reason to dump CF! I just looked and RR will work with Visteon hd radio module!!!

but here is the kicker, its the same thing on the original RR skin that I just installed? Hmmmm...is it my desktop than? Im running Windows Vista too...

Ok, now this is wierd? I just tryed to load the carwings again and I get an error that:
"...does not contain a valid skin!" what the heck? I pulled that whole forder out of My Documents and I for sure didnt mess with it....

Last night when I got home from work (midnight), I formatted the HD for the 5th time and reloaded my Win7. Nice clean load, all the updates, flash player etc. Had just enough of time to watch the season finale of deadliest catch and when that was over, I downloaded a fresh RR and installed it.

I ran it and guess what? So far the orig skin looks perfect! Nothing is overlapping or cut off. So I will load the BMW skin and see what happens, but I'm really optimistic. I still have no clue what caused or possibly causes the issue I posted earlier?

When I hook up the Visteon and she works I'll download iGuidance and we should be in business.....I so hope so. It's been a huge, long, bumpy road for me getting to this point....

I know this is not over, but I still would like to thank you all who helped me so far....
