User experience with RR resume from hibernation? Needs improvement?

Just wondering what the general consensus is with RR dealing with resuming from hibernation. As many of you know i have ALOT of usb devices.... radios, TPMS, PDC, etc that RR communicates with via plugins. My personal experience with resuming from hiberation/sleep is not very good. I'd say 25% of my resumes result in RR Hangs, most of the time resulting in having to force close RR and restart it.

So does anyone else have problems with resuming? If so, please provide the following information to help determine if there is something that can be fixed either in plugins or in RR itself.

    -Windows Version?
    -RR Version?
    -Skin?
    -Have Radio? If so which?
    -Have XM/Sirius?
    -What plugins do you use?
-What problem are you experiencing with resume?
-How often does the problem occur?

I'll go ahead and start off:

    -Windows 7 Service Pack 1 32bit
    -June 2012
    -eLite 2
    -Yes, Boomzbox HD
    -Yes, XMD1000
    -Skintool, RRPandora, RRTPMS, RRPDC
-RR Hangs, either greyed out or completely white screen, until it resumes 30-60 seconds later or results in a force close
    -25% of the time.

Not just out of hibernation for me, also happens when pressing buttons too quickly

-Windows Version? Windows 7 Service Pack 1 32bit
    -RR Version? July 2012
    -Skin? DFX (latest)
-Have Radio? Yes, Directed HD, via USB-serial
    -Have XM/Sirius Yes, XMD1000,
-What plugins do you use? RREarth, WiFi
-What problem are you experiencing with resume? RR Hangs, either greyed out or completely white screen, results in a force close
-How often does the problem occur? Too often
TruckPC - gutted, being used for test setup
BoatPC - All in 1 in cuddy, N7 using VNC on dash, RR
    BlazerPC - Nexus 7 with Timur's USBROM

sonic, you going to have to solve this yourself...

something is holding up the resume process...

the best way is prob process of elimination, since it only happens 25% of the time, its going to be a long process

    1. remove all plugins
    2. remove all radios (xm/hd)

now use RR for a day or so.. or do a bunch of hibernation/resumes
and then bring back in a radio... and so fourth

i dont think anyone here is going to have a clear answer for you...since its very hard to reproduce
maybe process monitor, somehow you need to know why rr is busy... where is it being held up
    -Thanks

I'm already doing that. Finding a fix for me was not the intention of this thread, rather to gather a consensus to see if its a wide spread issue or not.

I'm less than 25% but it happened to me on my way home tonight so it is fresh in my memory.

    -Windows Version? 7 ultimate 32bit
    -RR Version? 6-1-12
    -Skin? Elite 2
-Have Radio? If so which? nope
    -Have XM/Sirius? nope
-What plugins do you use? rrmedia, mobilephone.net. wifiman, cleanscreen.
-What problem are you experiencing with resume? RR has expirienced a problem and must close
-How often does the problem occur? maybe 10% of the time.

I also run iguidance 2011 and dash command.

mitchjs, I definitely understand it is hard to build a software that is reliable under all unknown crazy configs (reason windows is so bloated and buggy). I certainly haven't looked into it much as it happens to me infrequently enough that I curse and then forget about it. Perhaps a good quality info dump on crash or something would help people know what device or plugin caused the crash.

yea.. really really hard, id LOVE to solve it for you too!

#1 thing i would suspect 1st, is plugins...

btw, when it hangs, whats the last bit of debug.txt look like...

and windows isnt so buggy, people so quick to blame...

oh make sure u have the latest cleanscreen plugin, just fixed like a month ago, kills other plugins...
    -Thanks

I'll get the new clean screen... thanks!

I hear ya on windows. I like to give microsoft their hassle for sure but I stick up for them a lot. The average person doesn't understand what microsoft has built with windows. It's like making a one size fits all pair of pants. Sure you might be "Able" to do it but it isn't going to look pretty and nobody is going to be comfortable. Just sayin.

I used to hibernate many years ago, switched to standard boot up cause it takes just about the same amount of time if you have 1Gb of RAM or more (at least for me). Don't recall having freeze ups hibernating or resuming unless I had a hardware issue (which happened from time to time with buggy FTDI drivers from back then).
