    problem with windows updates

last night, i was just finishing up my carpc, when windows downloaded updates, i usually dont let it install automatically, but i didnt notice that it was turned on, here is what happened

    fresh windows 7 install
    fresh RR install
    fresh DFX install
    fresh winamp install
    fresh nav11 free install

everything was working great last night, and i was going to mount the PC in my truck was listening to pandora while cleaning up the garage, i get up this morning to get the truck ready, and decided to turn on the computer and listen to my new creation while i was getting ready.

i got the "windows is configuring update 1 of 16387" and it started rolling..

now NOTHING works. RR starts, no buttons work switch to dfx skin, again nothing works

anyone else ever have this same problem?

i guess i will be doing a fresh install again today!!!!!!! freakin windows, i wish i could put my IMac in the freakin truck. i have just about had it with windows!!!! now i know why i bought a mac last feb!!!!

sorry for the rant! i am just so peeved that i spent 3 days figuring all this out, getting the gps to work, changing settings to my liking, and Microsloth freaks it all up in 1 night!!!

I've never heard of windows updates breaking the RR install. I would only recommend rebooting after the updates before trying to run RR. If that doesn't work I'd suggest just installing RR over your current files - it should register what it needs and keep your settings.

i abuse my pc....and still rr works... and never do fresh installs(too much work)

so... keep it simple, and test with rr and carwings...
then roll into dfx if it all works

reinstall of RR will not hurt, it will make sure all rr components are intact and registered

I believe it was an update to the .net framework. After I took it out it started working again. I had several updates that failed also. The .net had failed 3 times. I think that was the root of the problem. Due to the failed updates I think it corrupted a file

well, you need a working .net framework for some of the RR features, like XM, Sirius, HD Radio, few others too, + rrconfig

so... .net framework 3.5sp1 is required!
