Music stays on "original" song forever will not resume to last song played

Let me try to explain this without confusing you more

If I select any music playlist and it starts playing a song. That exact song plays over and over every time I start up the car. Yes I played different songs before shutting off the car
If I select a different playlist than a different song plays but then that song will play over and over every time I start up the car.

What I have found out is if I close RR manually it works correctly.
How can I get it to work correctly just shutting off the car?

I am using a Opus 320w Power supply which shuts down and starts up the computer automatically.
When I shut off the car and watch the shut down process I can see RR changing the song back to the original song before it finishes shutting down.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

    maybe its winamp...

see you don't know how Opus 320w Power shuts down the system..
lets assume, it sends a message to shutdown...
which means, windows will start closing apps...
and winamp MAY be closed before RR
I that case, RR would use the last known, playlist position
    and save that into resume.ini

so what I would do, is don't let RR start automatically on boot...

load a playlist (SMALL ONE, no more then say 20 songs), play song 5...
    shutdown via the opus
    power back on
and look at resume.ini, is it right?
ie is the timestamp right? then its contents... the PL position

hell it could even be a winamp plugin, remove all plugins in winamp
    if any...

oh and simplify the RR, test with carwings...

The Opus is hard wired into the power button on the mombo and case. It just triggers whatever is setup in Windows for the power button. I have it setup to shut down the computer.

I did more testing and this is what I have found out.

In carwings it seems to be working.

It seems to be related to the DFX skin or Windows?.

If I shut down RR with the DFX skin manually through the DFX skin it works correctly. If I shut down windows through the DFX skin it still works correctly.

It does not work correctly if I press the power button on the case (which is set to shut down the computer)

I am confused by when it is closed by Windows (using power switch) it does not work but then it works correctly if I manually close RR through the DFX skin or shut down Windows through the skin.

Any ideas on how to fix it?

Is there any way in Windows or RR to manually assign the shutdown procedure of the open programs?

    Thanks

Sounds to me as if what could be happening is you have a short timer at shutdown and your Windows settings may be set to force shutdown. Are you clearing the page file at shutdown? Try not doing that if you are (doing that can slow down the shutdown process quite a bit).

Regardless, try a Google search for 'windows XP shutdown manager.' I don't recall if it's OK to post 3rd party links for products on here or not, so I won't. But you can find a range of free and small-fee products online that purport to do this. Otherwise, I'd suggest checking your Windows Registry shutdown parameters. See if you can extend the time the PC has to shut down all processes, and lengthen the time before it forces a shutdown.

There's a partial guide here. Keep in mind you would want to do the opposite of what this author recommends (i.e. lengthen the shutdown time, versus shorten it):

    http://www.howtogeek.com/80102/make-...down-faster-2/

    OR

You could modify the registry setting to force Windows to always hibernate instead of shutting down when it gets a shutdown command.

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../cc962586.aspx

Unless someone else has a better idea, I'd try these things and see if they help.

    Good luck!

ids say has nothing to do with windows shutdown
    but all in DFX
going to be very hard to solve

windows will shutdown, applications in any order, if it kills winamp 1st, that's ok, RR knows how to deal with that
it might all be that dfx, is saving the last audio, and its loosing track...
not sure if your're using RRMEDIA with dfx, not sure even if that can affect your issue
but I can tell you, its porb only you who can solve

I think I have dfx installed, I could try rr with dfx, then push my power button...and see what happens

results, using the latest RR, the latest DFX5.1 (said no updates when I did a check)
using Winamp 5.63 WITH NO PLUGINS installed in WINAMP!!!!
I went to music, picked an album using standard browser, then in playlist screen
switched to the 4th song, went about 1 min in, while sitting right there.
    pressed the power button...
    computer shutdown...
    walked away...
    came back 5 mins later
    started PC
    logged in...
    and opened RR
and it went to DFX main menu, playing EXACTLY where I left off
so I say it works perfectly

    I made a little progress.

Here is a video of what it does right before it shuts down (the last couple seconds)

I have all the different RR plugins I use disabled except for RRExtended RRMedia & DFX plugin. I (also had RRMedia disabled at one time too and that did not help either)
Right now I am using Winamp 5.63 with no plugins installed except the ones that come pre installed. I also tried 5.62 with no luck. I have not tried 5.64 yet. I know I have had this problem for a while like probably a couple years or so.

What I tried is I used Windows Media player. I only tried it a 2 times but it worked those 2 times. Need to try it more to make sure it stays working.
So my question is is there any benefit one over the other with Winamp or Windows Media Player?
Do I need to do anything with the media player to make sure I get my whole music collection?

And the last question is WHY does it mess up with Winamp and the DFX skin?

    Thanks

one thing, just because it says disabled, doesn't fully mean disabled... its a partial disable...its up to the plugin to actually disable...
I got a bunch of plugins myself (12 to be exact, 99% I wrote)... but if you want, you can just copy them out of the plugins folder to really remove em...
remove all but dfx, skintool, rrextended... and see how it goes
(just copy out of plugins folder)
like make a folder called plugins disabled, and move them there

for sure I saw it jump to song 1... just before shutdown
something is doing that on purpose!!!

you have to elim, till you figure it out
