foobar uses a plugin foo_cdda to play cd's
    so its handled there
all i do is use the API's playlist manager, and feed it files...
if it doesn't work... then it doesn't work
I just tried it with winamp and it does not read as I expected it title artist. so at that point do not even need him.

how are you getting cda files anyway, are you in the end trying to just play an audio cd?
ive seen people play audio cds no problem in rr
    -Thanks

btw, foobar handles the .cda file when in a playlist, so...
add a .cda file... exit rr, start rr
    it will play

so.. this is a foobar problem, feel free to post in their forum, that a .cda by itself wont open right via API (playlist_manager->activeplaylist_add_items)

it seems to load it as a media file, and not process it as a .cda
    -Thanks

ok, I found another API to use

I have to specifically check that the file ends with .cda
if it does I do NOT pass it into foobars metadb service
which if it was a m3u it would then build me a list

but I send it right to the Playlist Filter process_location() API
    to get a list

which then is added to the PlayList Manager

    seems to work
    -Thanks

foobar does process the .cda (its slow) I think its because of access to cdr
once its spinning its fast, but I do see the processing file dialog
(and there seems no option to keep it hidden, with this API)
    -Thanks

    Nice find!

course, there is no meta data in a .cda file, and therefore you wont get any artist/title information
which says to me, even more reason to just rip the cd, besides cds are obsolete
    -Thanks

I just replaced the DLL now works but as you mentioned earlier reading files is very slow .. and everyway the names of the artist and song you do not read anyway. if you can not do leave it alone. if you are the only one on the face of the earth to occasionally use the CD. I do not want you to miss any more time. when I will listen to the CD. I open foobar.
thank you also for what you do

but why foobar can read the data ARTIST AND TITLE?
I agree with you that the CD is obsolete now, but who uses only audiophile CD AUDIO
