    DAC volume unable to change

    Good morning,

A while back I acquired a HiFimediy Sabre Tiny USB DAC on the advice of another forum member. When I change the volume level the PC indicates change but the output stays the same. Since buying the USB DAC the supplier has put a note that the volume can not be changed with volume hot keys but surely there must be a way to change the volume from the system (the other member is using Driveline with no hassle).

Any advice would be welcome. Do I need to set something in WinAMP or RR?

    Cheers,
    Dave

I have the HiFimeDIY Sabre USB DAC ES9023 96Khz/24bit model, and it works great with Driveline, but as I just read this new "Tiny" model with the "- Volume level can not be controlled by volume hot keys (updated, it doesn't work in either MAC or Windows)" disclaimer is disturbing.

The original HiFimeDIY Sabre that I have accepts volume hotkey keyboard commands and I have them programmed into my Joycon, where they also work. I also have a Powermate that works with it too.

Does it work with a USB volume control like the Griffin Powermate or Fusion Control Rotary Volume Knob?

    Ray,

I'm most impressed with HiFimeDIY and their customer service, and highly recommend this company.

Despite it being a year ago that I purchased the DAC they informed me the volume does not adjust on that type - the tiny sabre (I think it must be the signal processor that would handle that function). They offered me the correct DAC if I paid the difference and shipping, as long as I returned the other. I agreed. They have already sent the replacement out even though mine only left the UK for China this week.

For the short time I used the first DAC I was very impressed with the sound quality . I can't wait for the replacement....

That's great news. I have been really satisfied with the price and sound quality. I also have the ODAC which costs twice as much for the same specs and sound quality, but when I read the Sabre specs I had to get one for the price.
