I want to be convinced by RR

I am using Frodo right now and I am happy with it. However, thnings can always get better.
Can someone try to convince me about RR. Should I switch and why? What are the pro's and con's?

My guess is to just download it and try it. While geting to know with each other you may come across with some question and/or bug. Then you post your problem here and if it's a bug next day you'll have bug resolved. In case of a feature request and guino's speed you'll be good in a matter of days.

For example, I asked guino about plans for TV feature so I would buy correct TV card, next day TV was there. Awesome.

    it's so easy ...

hi, simply think of roadrunner as the best carputer front end, the most configurable and, most of all, the developper is very fond of him (and this is a real advantage.....).

    cheers.

sounds very nice, but what about the facts? How does it compare to say Frodo?

My experience with InCar media sw is that I didn't like any of them. Until RR. Frodo is for my oppinion too buggy, when testing it on my workstation it crashed if not having right directory specified etc. Centrafuse was my way to go but it is to damn slow. I guess it's because of .NET but I just can't press a button on my display and go have cafe. MediaCar from Coyote looked promising but god knows where it's author is. If only sources were available. Then I found out RR...

Everyone has it's own wishes and demends from such sw and I realy mean it, go try it out. It is only few 100kB to download

You have to configure it if your smart enough to build a car pc you whould be able to set this up.

    You really should convince yourself...

Everyone's taste and needs differ. RR may be for you, may not be for you. I've used Frodo and it's a very nice front end. When my carpc is back up and running, I'll probably try RR and Frodo and see which one I truly like.

In my first version of my CarPc I had MC. That worked very well for me, but obviously ran into a slight snag. Now RR has brought MC back into the mainstream and has made great strides at improving the original MC platform.

    So... my suggestion. Convince yourself.

A LOT of people get confused with something VERY SIMPLE:
-The Skin UPDATE I have on my site is NOT a FULL SKIN -- It is only an UPDATE. So just download the FULL skin at my site (there's only one) OR set the skin path to one of your MediaCar skins (I suggest use RRConfig for this).

It won't work without a full skin (duh). But if that's too complex for you, you can download the InstallShield version (with skin) from the link on my download page.

Regarding Frodo Player -- I have in my car as well, just never really got used to it. As a matter of fact, I have MediaCar, Frodo, RR and MediaEngine in my car. I just like having options and RR is just one more option.
