8 Outputs control of the pararell port support?

    Hello.
Guino I have a question for you.
I am going to finish this week a pararell switch board for 8 relees.
I will use a program to control those relees <- (sorry for english)

I ma wondering if you could make a on section as you have (video, gps and so on) for relee control?

You can get a source code from me if you want to...

I am planing to control neons under my car, insiade my car, a trunk neon and couple of other things.

I hope you can look at it.

Ow but the way. Your work on RoadRunner =

I can add support to control your rele board.. It shouldn't be hard (specially if you provide source code).. I just don't have what it takes to edit any graphics..

I have been contimplating this also. In my project I was gonna make each relay be able to have a timer, or momentary, or on/off. They would all be easily set in a settings file or from a settings tab from within the program. This way it could control power windows or in my case, power tail-gate. I don't know if you can use one channel to go up and down though. Any ideas?

Here is a c++ source example of using D0-D1 for LPT1

pinctrl p(0x378, TRUE); // making an object with LPT1 and inverting all ports
    p.set(D3, 1); // sets data line 3 to high (there are D0 to D7)
    bool status = p.get(D3); // Gets status for D3

    Program is using io.dll

One idea its to use the control relay board with LPT to climate control of the car.
Drive the servos present in the climate control with one skin adapt for RR, to simulate the AC air full control, directions of air ,speed of the motor of ventilation, heat and cold, etc...

The only problem that the cars are not all equal of the climatize control, it needs to adapt the project for you car, however it would be a good dea to use with RR.....

This is a good idea, but my question is why not add a command table of operations like:

D0-D7 all Zeros, means do nothing
D0=1 and D1-D7 all Zeros, means turn rele 1 ON
D1=1 and D0-D7 all Zeros, means turn rele 1 OFF
D0=1,D1=1 and D2-D7 all Zeros, means turn rele 2 ON
D2=1 and D0-D7 all Zeros, means turn rele 2 OFF
    And so on..

What I mean by the above is to have D0-D7 be used to make up a Byte with 256 Combinations. 0=Do nothing and all other values perform assigned commands. That way, you could control up to 127 Reles (ON/OFF).. or simply use the other commands for whatever else you may need.. I understand that the circuit would be more complex, but it would be a lot more flexible... I'm just thinking for the future.. I for one would like to have reles controlling the 4 windows in my car (Up/Down) which means I'd need 8 reles, which means I couldn't do anything else since I'd have used all 8 reles..

It is also my understanding that it is possible to read the D0-D7 bits from the paralell port that can be set via the connected board. So the above command table would simply set the command and the board would automatically set it back to Zero after completing the command. The software can definitely be made smart enough to keep track and display the current statuses without having to query the board..

talking of 8 relay LPT board try:

    http://www.quasarelectronics.com/

I have one of their boards and they are really easy to program with VB.

Don't quite know what i'm going to use it for yet but it looked worth playing with.

The Quaser relay board looks good, even comes with an OCX to allow programming with VB easily.
