drive and read

What I would like to have in RR is the possibilty to have the computer read a text. I have a lot of reading to do for my work and am in the car 2 x 60 minutes a day. So I am thinking of something similar to the audio browser but instead it browses tekst. After clicking the tekt is read by SAPI. Will this be difficult to add to the program?

that's actually a pretty cool idea.. I could make it simply add the file to a playlist, then we could play/pause and use next/prev -- but everything would have to be divided by sentences (phrases) , otherwise the SAPI would read the text very poorly. I'd say if there's a winamp plugin for this, somebody should make one.. if there is, then we can probalby just install it and use it directly..

Just wanted to say that there is a Plugin to read Text and XML files in winamp.. if you install it and add the .TXT extendion to your audiofiles setting in RR, you will be able to add those files to the playlist and play them. It is not possible to "seek" throught those files and in my machine I have found it to "freeze" winamp when closing it (sometimes).. but it works..

this one does not play doc or html files, but does play txt files very well.....very cool!

I just tried it, and indeed it works!! Never thought this would be so easy to implement. Great, now I am goin to try if its nice to use in practice.

By the way I have a collegue in my work who is blind. He has reading software where you can change the reading speed. I will ask him what program it is.

this plugin has the speed setting in it, ....just goto your plugin input and choose the text speech plugin and goto configure, and up the speed

Thanks for the help. I have another question. Whet I do this I am able to select one of the MS voices (Sam, Mary and Mike) all are in English. I like to use a Dutch voice which is hidden somewhere in my system. To be more precise it is an L&H voice which can be used in Microsoftagent 2.0.

By some reason I do not understand, RR uses that Dutch voice. So now I have RR speaking Dutch (I like to change this to english beacuase off course the tekst in RR is english) and I like to make WinAmp use the Dutch voice. Any idea on how to do this??

hehe... well.. to change the voices in RR is easy.. just open your ExecTBL.INI file and enter translation codes to be used in your computer. For Example:

"AUDIO","LOAD;AUDIO_PLAYER.SKIN;MUSIK"

(The text after the last ";" is what is "read" by RR). You can do that for virtually ALL commands in RR that speak text. The best part is that this is effective for all your skins at once.

Regarding the winamp plugin, I have no idea.. I only have English SAPI installed, but it may help to perhaps uninstall the english speech support and leave only the dutch one.
