    Possible video library suggestion

Hopefully either be implemented in RR, or someone can offer an alternative which works in a similar way..

I have my movies all as just single xVid AVIs, so to get the DVD cover in the browser, I need something like this:
    D:\movies\Oceans Eleven\Oceans Eleven.avi
    D:\movies\Oceans Eleven\Oceans Eleven.jpg
    D:\movies\Ski Movie\Ski Movie.avi
    D:\movies\Ski Movie\Ski Movie.jpg

What I'd really like is this:
    D:\movies\Oceans Eleven.avi
    D:\movies\Oceans Eleven.jpg
    D:\movies\Ski Movie.avi
    D:\movies\Ski Movie.jpg

So that the browser shows only AVI (or MPEG, MOV) files, but looks for a jpg with the same basename and uses that as the DVD cover.

I've also got a similar thing with my music library, but will save that for another thread!

well.. the problem is that most people have videos with 2 or more files, album art and possibly subtitles and text art.. so now we're talking about at least 5 files for each movie.. if you have 100 movies, that gives you 500 files in a single directory.. the idea is to keep things organized.. if I make it read the JPG of the same file name, and there's even a space in the wrong place it won't match and people will come up with "Bug reports" and such.. then I'd also have to add support for it to read the Album Art from the same location and afain the same issues may come up.. also, it is a lot harder to edit your JPG filenames one by one to match the movie name instead of simply saving it in a folder with whatever name it already had from the web -- or to use a downloading tool that names the files all with the same name...

I might look into it at a later time, but right now, it is just a lot more complex than you think..

I know this is an old post but is there anyway that I can implement this myself? Can I edit or adjust something in an ini? Every video I have is just an avi file. It'd be great if I could just have a jpg named the same show up in the preview section.

Do all videos have to be in separate folders for this to work properly? I know back in MediaCar all you had to do was have a jpg of the same name as the video, and all videos could reside in the same directory.

You can do the same you did in MC with all videos in the same folder.. IF YOU WANT. If this doesn't work for some reason, let me know..

It seems like the Video cover is being controlled by the same setting as the "Album Cover File" because the only way I can get Video covers to display is by putting them in separate folders and naming the cover "folder.jpg" which is what I have for the "Album Cover File" setting.

There are two cover file settings (one for audio and one for video) ... I'll take a look at the issue to see what may be wrong.

Maybe I'm missing something but I can't find a video cover setting anywhere, I've checked using the RRconfig as well as just looking at the rr.ini file itself. Is there a line that I can just add to the rr.ini file?

errr... my bad.. I confused it with the File Types setting... the video album art should be the same way as the audio album art... something like this should work: Setting: *.jpg ...

    c:\Videos\Movie1.avi
    C:\Videos\Movie1.AVI.jpg
    C:\Videos\Movie2.avi
    C:\Videos\Movie2.AVI.jpg

I'll give it a try shortly to see if this is working as it should ... as long as your JPGs are not hidden, it should work..
