I'm having a similar problem that didn't show its ugly head till I installed RR
I don't use DLINK, and not got any serial ports running. Return from Hibernation makes Winlogon.exe throw up an exception error at address e8x0893465 (I made the number up for effect) and it doesn't matter if you press DEBUG or IGNORE it still reboots. It also doesn't matter if there is anything non-windows running, I've closed all apps and services that aren't necessary and it still does it. Even unplugged all devices and stop BT and it still does it. Makes no difference if you Hibernate from RR or Startmenu and doesn't make a difference if RR is closed...
HELP, if Searched to no avail
Im using WinXP Pro SP1, Widcom, RR - Customised Brushed Metal Skin, NM D3, PhoCo, ProScan OBDII, all programs that I had on previously with no problems.

Thats weird.. you say the problem didn't come up until you installed RR, but then you say that even if RR is closed you get the error.. ?? I give two possibilities: 1-if the installshield replaced one of your system files it could be causing a problem.. 2-you've got some kind of virus in the meantime..
You can TRY to add forcehibernate=true to RR.INI. but if you say RR closed or open doesn't make a difference, it's unlikely this will help .. the only thing I can recomend (short of ad-aware, hijackthis and an anti-virus) is to try uninstalling RR using the installshield (to perhaps revert any install effect) then install RR manually as described in the FAQ.
Also, you said you don't use the DLINK but it is listed on your Sig. If you have it, but don't use it, and the old driver is installed, you could still most definitely have issues resuming from hibernation.

There's no way RR can cause winlogon to crash. Only a bad driver or a virus could do that. Since you are still using XP Pro Sp1, then unless you are fully up to date with the Microsoft patches, there are some really nasty viruses out there that can crash system processes such as winlogon.exe and csrss.exe which will lead to an immediate reboot. You should make sure you connect to Windows Update and download all the patches - one of which is a monthly updated check for some of the more nasty viruses.

I have the problem where returning from hibernation I occasionally return to only winamp open... I think this is when MM is open when the computer hibernates..
Can you maybe add a check that closes MM when hibernation is detected? Will it still work if the hibernation is made from an Opus, or must I rely on the hibernate function from RR? I have the opus hibernating my carpc, so it would need to detect that and quit MM then if possible restart it after bootup
This is weird as until about 1-2 weeks ago this never happened.. I didnt positively establish the relation between MM and this problem, but I remember that before it used to never have this problem...
I have been using solely my skin so it might also be the problem, but it was working well before with my skin!
Thanks!
cheers
PS: just to make sure you understand the symptom: I hibernate normally listening to music, when the computer returns from hibernation only winamp is on my desktop...playing music as before... nothing on the taskbar and my desktop shows absolutely no icons at times, and at times it shows my icons and I can just click RR again and it will return to normal (I think it detects winamp already playing and goes on with it)
I'm trying to understand exactly what you want me to add.. I get the symptoms you have, and (with the latest versions of RR) whatever I do in preparation for hibernate should work using the Menu or the opus... are you hibernating FROM the MM screen ? or hibernating while MM is simply open (but in a different screen) ? Do both of those situations have the same effect ?
Let me know so I can try it myself..

Give me till later today to try it out...
AFAIR - this wasnt hapenning before 2 or 3 releases....
give me until later today I'm gonna try to test it out...![]()
My CarPC doesn't have internet access and hasn't since its build so virus is unlikely I think, I don't use the DLink as I think it is big time CRAP, and with no self seek or RDS/EON its no good for the car.
My CarPC hardware is currently sat in my room whilst I suss out a way to power an insight P4 and get my Lillput replaced again! If I get the error code can anyone tell whats causing it, or show me a way to check what it is...
I might just recopy Winlogon.exe and see if that fixes it!

Cured it! It was a corrupt Winlogon.exe file. Ditched it for Minlogon and all is well again. Must have just be coincidence that it happened at around the time I installed RR.
Only probklem now is CTRL+ALT+DEL & CTRL+SHIFT+ESC don't work anymore?!?
There's proably a fix though...
