Same key different function

Hey Guino,

Just wanted to know if what i want can be done? I'm using a remote (trust nb5100p) and am using the bundled software to emulate keys (keyboard) to control roadrunner. works great but i was wondering if it was possible to use the same key press for a different function on another screen.

example: if i were using the F11 key for next song on "main menu" and the "audio player" could it be used to add the selected dir to the playlist on the audio browser screen? This way i could do a lot more with the limited buttons on the remote.

Once the base plugin is done, it will be very easy to make a little plugin to receive commands from Girder or other Remote contols interpret them and send the appropriate action to RR...

Hello,
I'm new on this forum, and first, excuse me for my bad english !
With the Contaygious girder plugins It seems we have to press a button for each screen (audio, audio browser, video..) we want the remote have its effect.
Am i right ?
If so, coudl it be possible to send an event from RR to Girder to change the active command group ?

You should be able simply group the command ("Audio" or whatever) to automatically change the active group on girder while sending the command to RR at the same time -- or at least I was under the impression you could do it .. you may want to ask contaygious (PM) about it..

sorry, i don't quite understand what you mean...

with my girder plugin, you have five buttons on the main menu that take you to different screens (audio, video, etc.) and at the same time toggle these five buttons to do something new for the given screen that you selected.

there are also 5 dedicated buttons for each screen at the bottom of my remote just in case i wanted to switch back and forth without having to go to the main menu first, but you don't have to use these...I hardly ever do...

Is that what you mean?

I'm thinking he wants RR to send a command to Girder to change the active group on the remote when switching screens.. is there anything in Girder to allow such type of interface ? I have yet to dig through any kind of documentation on that..

EDIT: In any case, when I make the plugin for the "same button, different functions in different screens" this kind of thing should not be needed...

I'm confused haha. My remote knows what screen I am on at all times anyway because you have to hit a button to change screens...so everything works great for me.

I guess if you were using a touchscreen as well, then the remote and RR would get out of sync...but I don't have a touchscreen.

The phoco screen will be tough to do in girder, but I'll get started on that as soon as the brushed metal skin has a screen for it...
