Sure.. I'll add that.. along with the support to get the indicator states.. it's really just adding more "request" support.. but nothing more than a line or two of code ... there's a registry entry the installshield sets up, but if RR is installed manually it won't be there so better be integrated as a Request -- you only need it once anyway... I'll update the base plugin later today for those..

Thanks Guino, I know I keep adding to your work but I really appreciate it .... I'll start writing some plugins, I think I'll do the USB stuff first as most of it is already done.

Sorry - I wasn't clear. I wasn't asking you to do the skinning - just to please find some time to make the labels skinnable by someone else. That may be me but I have so little time left over after work, taxes and getting my car PC hardware permanently into the car . I'd definitely play around with the arrangement of the UI though even though I'd likely have a crappy or at best temporary graphic behind it.

Hey Guino or anyone for that matter using MapPoint

I'm trying to figure out how the Show Position and Fav functions work.

When ever I click Show Position it opens the OSK. What am I suppose to type in the OSK? Sometime the OSK will show the Town of the Route I added, sometime it will show the street name of the route I added and other time it is blank with no indication of what I need to type in there. The Show Position worked 1 time for me and I'm not sure how I got it to work.

Is it posible for the show position to take you over to your added routed browser where you can select what you want it to show a position for?

I'm not sure also of the FAV button and how this works. I select FAV and a small window pops up over my Route Browser. How do I add the route to the FAV list?

All other Items I've tried appear to be working fine. You did a nice job at integrating the MapPoint application as I had hoped.

    Chuck

Right now, you can add to favorites in the 'Add Location' screen.. (middle button across the bottom..) search for a location or use the nearby feature, select the location you want to add, hit "ADD" and type a name for the location... you can then use it in the route planning screen's "FAV" button ... you can delete what you want from that menu as well..

You can add the current GPS position into the favorites by using the nearby function and adding the GPS position into the favorites as usual. Although it is a usefull thing to have direct access to it, I didn't have time to find a spot for it.

The way to use show location is: set the country and city on the 'ADD location' screen (defaults are set in rrconfig). Then hit show location.. on the OSK all you put in is the STREET ADDRESS (nunmer+street name). and it will use the current Country/City to search and zoom onto that location. It will also put a push pin at the location in the map. To return to normal view, just hit the "POS MODE" button then "Show POS".

    Reroute button

Awesome job on the Mappoint! Was driving home one night and 2 things I noticed. 1.) When I drove off route to get some gas and got back on route, my voice props stopped. Is there a certain distance out of route that messes up the voice props? Can you add a reroute button to recalculate this problem, say I miss a turn, take a construction detour or make an unscheduled stop? 2.) Is where a way to change the voice type or the way it sounds, since most guys refer to their cars as females...I would rather have a girl speak to me than the husky guy voice! Thanks!

just go in the Speech Control panel (which is in window's control panel) and set the default voice to be used. A recalculate button is pretty easy to add.. hard is finding the will to edit the images... If you get off the track and merge back to it, the software should pickup the route from where it left off.. I often take "shortcuts" and when I rejoin the route the voice directions pickup fine from where I was before.. I guess it depends on how off you go..

The default SAPI 5 voice in XP is 'Sam'. You can download 'Mike' & 'Mary', if I remember correctly, from somewhere on Microsoft's web site. Or you can configure RR to use SAPI4 and download different voices.

I've had issues with the voice prompts stopping / not working if I don't follow the calculated route. Once I set it to calculate when on a freeway and it jumped to a side road and calculated from there and I got no voice prompting at all other than the very first one.

ummm.. it kind of makes sense.. RR can only calculate the route from the point you're at... the original code I made had a detection/recalculation function, but the thing I didn't like about it was the fact that it had to modify the waypoints in the route planner. I can give it a try on doing "auto-recalculate" as D3 does.. but I'll have to run some tests first..
