Command RR whit Infrared Steering Wheel

Hi,
Is there someone that has connected an interface (Alpine, Pioneer, Kenwood etc.) the commands to the steering wheel to an infrared transmitter and he has succeeded in commanding RR?

For example: I have found a universal interface that convert the electrical signal of my Renault Steering wheel command to infrared signal for Alpine, Pioneer, Sony, Kenwood, Clarion, Vdo, Panasonic, Jvc HiFi aftermarket.

Someone can help me?

Sounds like you'd just need an IR receiver plugged into Girder.. then you just use RR's GML file to associate the IR commands into the functions you want to perform in RR. Right now there's the IBus software for BMW that allows a similar effect (without Girder since it's directly interfaced with RR).

I use my Peugeot steering controls for next, prev, Vol+ and vol- by trashing a PS2 Keyboard, removing the built in controller and soldering the steering stalk cables to the controller, therefore emulating keypresses.

StevieG has connected his Ford Focus steering controls to his CarPC using a USB Gamepad and an app he has written himself using Directinput.

Is this the sort of thing you are after or are you specifically after IR?

@UK MP3Car: I've think to the IR for the easiest way, In this way I don't touch the original cable of the car, but simple connect an interface.

@Guino: I've an IR Receiver hand-made, whit serial port connector, whit The receiver, a transistor and some discrete components, like this:

Someone have this circuit and It work? Last Time that I've try this it don't work very whit girder.

If it doesn't work with girder, I don't know what it would work with.. I mean, girder is by far the most complete remote control software availlable. It's supposed to support any IR remote and many non-IR remotes.

I just bought spare parts from the local scrap yard and butchered those steering controls, when I sell the car, I either sell with the carpc in there ready installed or switch everything back to stock.
