That speeds up searches within synced files -- but will be optional. Also will allow you to browse songs by Genre, Artist or Album name (if used).

Just wanted to offer a bit of direction for CD Ripping there is a freeware sdk for cd/dvd burning and ripping (even rips DVD videos i think too) at:
    Starburn SDK at
    http://www.rocketdivision.com
I bought the shareware license myself for my software, but i think freeware with a mention works fine.
Rips to WAV/Ogg/MP3 (via lame) I think, I've largely worked with burning tools.
Using the base plugin, anybody can make a plugin for using that SDK -- I'm not very keen of AD-Ware (or paid software).. so I'd stay away from this kind of software myself.. I already have code for Ripping CD directly into MP3 and CDDB lookups, so I just need to put it together into a plugin.

Very neat. Are you gonna use LAME?

Guino, please dont forget local cddb support.... I think it makes the most sense for in-car use... even though I now have GPRS, not everyone does, and local is much faster

Guino, I dont think they have any adware in that SDK... not from the way they put it anyways...apparently their burning software is adware, but the sdk is freeware "Cannot be used in the commercial or shareware projects. For FREEWARE projects or trial use." but if you coded your own that is best!

Yeah but the whole issue is really when installing the normal grab&burn software (which I assume is required by the SDK), that software is either AD-Ware or Shareware (if paid).. so basically they give you a free SDK is in order to benefit from it by selling their other software..
