    The voice prompts are only supposed to work when there's no audio playing already. If the External DVD speaks when you're going to it while playing a song, then I need to fix it as well. If you STOP the music it will speak. If you wish it to speak ALWAYS, you can change in your menu.skin file from "DVD" to "DVD||SAY;Launching DVD" or "VIDEO" to "VIDEO||SAY;Launching Video Player" read the skin commands.txt file if you have doubt on what the above means..

    Can I also make RR to say a welcome messege when I start RR? I don't know where I have to put in the label "SAY;Welcome to Road Runner!". I tried the ExecTBL.skin, and at the beginning of the menu.skin but I can't get it working correctly.

    Thanks for the help!

    Just copy that command (without quotes) and paste it into the Start command setting in RRConfig.

    How can we modify the voice type. My office computer sounds great but my carpc has a different voice and it dosent say things correctly like External G.P.S. It sounds like he's saying gepis instead of pronouncing the letters.

    Just curious if people are using this feature. My office computer has two additional voices, LH Michael and LH Michelle. Both sound great with RR. Microsoft Sam sounds lame in comparison. Just wondering how I can get those voices on my carpc without installing Office 2003.

    You can download all of the components from microsoft.

    SAPI 5.1 68mb http://www.microsoft.com/speech/download/sdk51/
    Microsoft Text-to-Speech Package 5.88mb http://www.microsoft.com/speech/download/sdk51/

    Or if you have an office cd, you can avoid the 68mb download for the engine. Do an advanced install and choose only the SAPI component.

    In the component browser you will find it under
    Office Shared Features =>
    Alternative User Input =>
    Speech

    However, if you are already using Speech you probably have the SAPI engine and need to only download the voices in the "Microsoft Text-to-Speech Package"

    Thanks, this worked well for me. I also installed an AT&T Natural Vocie package. It sounds awesome.

    Guino, is there a way for the text to speech to read the mp3 ID filename or whatever at the beginning of the song when being played. I used to have a Neo Jukebox in my vehicle before I went carpc and it had that feature.
