Just installed - playlist/mp3 playback not working?

    Hey all,

I just installed Road Runner, and am using the default Brushed Honda skin. I set the playlist, music and video folders. When I try to play a video, it works fine (directory list comes up, etc); but when I click the Music button, not only do I get no music listed, but the program sort of locks up - I cannot exit to the main window, and all the buttons actually press, but have no effect - I have to force-close Road Runner and re-start it again.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks!

My guess is you didn't install winamp. Please read the Install FAQ.

Ehm, no, I'm not that naive. I installed Winamp 5. It is not the lite version, as per the FAQ. I guess I should try 2.91...

Edit: tried v2.95 with everything installed except Winamp Agent, and didn't work either.

Do I need to install Winamp Agent? If not, what could be the issue?

did you run the flash plugin update ?
is your winamp path setting correct in RRConfig?
are you using a classic skin?

it's typically easier to make the music work than the video, so this is interesting.. in any case, you can try running winamp then run RR while it's opened to see if it works. If so, your winamp path settings is just wrong.

I can see Winamp starting before RR runs, so that's not a problem. Flash plugin update? You mean the Flash.zip that includes a Flash.ocx? Where do I put that, though - there's no such file to overwrite in Road Runner.... does it go in \windows\system32?

Yet I'm still sure that something's simply missing. Can I enable a debug mode or something?

Try going into Winamp before opening RR and select the directory in the playlist editor where your MP3's are stored. You should then be able to open RR and see all of them.

That's a last resort, look at the "High CPU, Flash Spins too fast" FAQ .. it has detailed instructions on updating flash plugins.. you can also just try a different skin that has no flash objects to see if it works.. if winamp starts and you go in the audio browser, select some songs and they don't play, then something must be wrong.

This makes no sense.. the latest version will even scroll the text when selecting an item on the list that is to long to fit in the list.

I'm not sure, but how are you guys are updating RR and loading songs into the playlist ? you're suppoesed to have set your music path in RRConfig then go into the audio BROWSER (not player) and add songs to the playlist using the middle button inside the touch wheel.. once you do that, music should automatically start playing.

    This happends on 2 Pcs.
Please try Guino : Rename a Folder (sample) Musikxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
and then try to Browse this Folder in RR.

Play Musik is not the Problem, the Problem is that when the Name is only 1 letter to long i have no Songs to show and to play.
Pc1 Update only with rr Binary
    Pc2 Installer and Binary

I noticed the problem in New Dena Skin, because there are not much place for letters.
