http://www.freedb.org/modules.php?na...artid=30#local details access to local cddb...
I'm not sure how it works... I've never had a problem with speed...
I think it has some sort of index... I dont remember the exact size, but I think it is under 600mb... That is not too bad for folks with 40gb+ hds.... its the size of 1 divx to sacrifice in order to have the name/tracklist for any cd you may want to rip at your fngertips...
GPRS is just so flaky over here that it isnt even worth it....
Peep MY TYTE WHIP yo! It's got too many ill mods to list!
Seems fairly decent.. I'll look into it.. gotta download 300Mb of data just to test it..Originally Posted by RoyN
I think the option to have the local cddb database is a good idea, some people may not always have 'net access when they wish to rip a CD. 300Meg on the CarPCs isn't too major a space issue, I'd certainly give up that space to be able to rip a CD anywhere.
what about getting CDDB updates without redownloading the database everytime?

you can get just updates, no need to download 300mb everytime
Hey this will be a great feature and the local freedb is very cool i didn't know that was possible.
2nded. It would be great to just download updates to it each time you find internet access.
Othewise if you had no internet access your mp3s wouldn't be tagged correctly.
Can you change them automatically _after_ ripping them? Like by using cddb? Or would you need to do in manually?
