    Stuck, Embedding.

    I have read the FAQ but can't make sense of it...

    I have a app "C:\Program Files\Wises\Streetwise Auckland\metroaukr.exe" that I want to embed. I have concluded the two values I need are
    ThunderRT6MDIForm
    StreetWise, Auckland

    I am using the Alpine Amber skin and am just using the 'Phone; button off main menu, I can open the program but no idea how to make it embed or where to start

    1) You dont have the right values i think.

    maybe it's:
    PATH=C:\Program Files\Wises\Streetwise Auckland\metroaukr.exe
    TryEmbeddedTimeOut = 15
    WindowSearchString=metroaukr

    if it's dont work you can find the searchstring with winspector (see the FAQ).
    and look in this treath for almost the same prop: Netstumbler embedding in RR

    2) What program do u want to open? the button is connected with phoco.net and you can't connect it to another program. (maybe it's possible with a change in the skin.ini file but I don't know the vallues for that).

    You'd have to make a new skin file (i.e. by copying the external_gps.skin file into metro.skin), then change the phoco button on menu.skin to execute:

    "LOAD;Metro.skin;C:\Program Files\Wises\Streetwise Auckland\metroaukr.exe;!ThunderRT6MDIForm!StreetWi se"

    If you need more details on the above, please read "Skin Commands.txt".

    Tried that but no luck...
    Code:
    B02,399,256,374,111,"LOAD;wises.skin;C:\Program Files\Wises\Streetwise Auckland\metroaukr.exe;!ThunderRT6MDIForm!StreetWise",""
    When I click button RR minimises to taskbar and will not maximise again...

    If I use...
    Code:
    B02,399,256,374,111,"("APPOSK||RUN;C:\Program Files\Wises\Streetwise Auckland\metroaukr.exe;!ThunderRT6MDIForm!StreetWise")",""
    The program opens as expected (but not in the wises.skin as it is not defined).

    Can you advise on how to get the above one to load in the skin as the first does not work.

    Wises.skin is as follows...
    Code:
    MEDIACAR Skin
    MEDIACAR Alpine "Wises" skin
    WISES_OFF.jpg,WISES_OFF.jpg,WISES_ON.jpg,WISES_DOWN.jpg

    /, (B) Buttons
    /,   X   Y   W   H    CODE   TOOLTIP
    /,  --- --- --- ---  ------- -------
    B01,548,000,126,063,"CLOSE","Close"
    B02,674,000,126,063,"EXIT","Exit"

    /, (L) Labels
    /,   X   Y   W   H   R   G   B  PT        FONT        CODE   TOOLTIP
    /,  --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --  ----------------  ----   -------
    L01,085,015,200,020,255,198,000,18,"LCD Display Grid","TIME","LEFT"
    L02,285,015,168,020,255,198,000,18,"LCD Display Grid","DATE","RIGHT"

    /, (A) Application Window
    /,   X   Y   W   H   R   G   B
    /,  --- --- --- --- --- --- ---
    A01,000,063,800,537,192,192,192

    END

    Sorry about that, The first command you posted should work, except that it is missing the "spoken text" parameter... There's no such thing like using () as in the 2nd command.. The following should work (as long as wises.skin is in place)...

    B02,399,256,374,111,"LOAD;wises.skin;Street Wise;C:\Program Files\Wises\Streetwise Auckland\metroaukr.exe;!ThunderRT6MDIForm!StreetWi se",""

    Look as Skin commands.txt for more details.

    Ok now it opens but not in the skin it should. It opens to the right size etc.. but rr still minimises. Might be due to the fact the program opens a window first you have to click 'start' to continue. Any way you can see around that?

    Routis opens a nag screen at first but causes no problems.. Just make sure the nag window that comes up first can't be matched to the same window class and title you use to embed the application. In any case, RR should NOT "MINIMIZE" -- If it DISAPPEARS it's because there's something wrong with your .skin file like the JPGs are not there or have the wrong name etc.

    Ahh the _off jpg was missing

    All works good now, thanks for all the help

    One thing though, the app does not shutdown when I 'exit' the skin, it's not showing on taskbar but is running in taskmanager.

    There's a CLOSE button on external applications exactly to CLOSE the application. If you don't close it, RR assumes you want to go back to it and leave it open. If you open the same screen again, RR will simply re-show the application running.

    RUn into another hurdle The above program opens up a small window when you search for a street name, it quickly disappears behind the main window. Anyway to stop that happening?
