    Mappoint and AGPS plugin

I already know that Road Runner makes Mappoint worthwhile in the car...

But will Road Runner run Mappoint with the AGPS plugin okay? Would I select "External App" under the "GPS Mode" settings or will it load up fine running mappoint as normal.

    Has anyone tried this?

    Cheers again

    Dan

All that AGPS does is give you spoken directions (as far as I know) and that is already built-in feature of RR.. so why whould you want to pay extra to do the same thing ?

AGPS also gives re-direction and has a clear marker of where you currently are on the map...

I installed AGPS last night and it seemed to intergrate okay... except when you went back to the main screen the AGPS window stayed open...

I also tried it this morning whilst on my way to work... but I couldnt run the AGPS .... as the comm port was already being used by Mappoint itself...

I think if I remove the comm port data out of the road runner setup I might be able to get AGPS to run...

    Guino,

Please dont think I am unhappy with the way Road Runner integrates with Mappoint... you are doing a great job... I am merely just playing around with mappoint and AGPS to decide whether I want to stay with mappoint.

Could RR ever have Mappoint redirect?

Not sure how to describe, let me cite a scenario:
Enter a route. For whatever reason the route is deviated from...press a button to recalculate from current position. Is this feasible? I know Mappoint won't do this out of the box.

    AGPS will...

I have managed to get it working within Road Runner... but the distances and travel speeds across the top dont work, as AGPS is using the GPS Comm port and not MapPoint....

The Recalculate with mappoint is not a feature I will add because of something very simple:

Mappoint can NOT calculate a route from any Highway/Freeway/Parkway or Major access road. What I mean is that if you try to do it, the route will be from the point you're at, but OUTSIDE the road, to the closest access road then likely back into the Major access road. This makes recalculation not only useless but also annoying. There's no effective way to detect if you're in a major access road so even adding a button to "recalculate" manually would still not work when on a major access road.

I'll go further and say that I highly doubt AGPS can do what I am saying. Just make a route going through a highway, then when it's time to exit: MISS the exit on purpose and see what happens. I am 99% sure it will not recalculate propperly.

I will try it tonight... Last night I tried it on standard roads last night and it cope'd quite well ... I will try the motorway/freeway later.

Thanks for your thoughts on this guino.

How hard would it be to get it to route the travel speed from AGPS to RR?

Since chances of cooperation between the AGPS author and me are slim (because I somewhat replicate his software for free), this would be very hard to happen
