Wow! i was just thinking of this last week.
the only thing I would miss with my car pc would be Tomtom
so perhaps this will make my upcomming carpc perfect!!
i'm gonna test it too.

I had this problem - You have to open up the PPC_2003_SE\PPC_2003_SE_WWE cold start first and while open you can select the Device Emulator 'manager' to get the cradle option.
Strangely i can't get the resolution to be availible for selection in Video section to allow 800x600..any ideas..?

Got to say though it is far too slow to use day to day in the car on Epia MII 12000; it works-ish, but it kills the rest of the car pc functions due to it's processor usage.

I agree with StevieG it works, but it is sluggish... Unless the performance can be improved then it is a little slow. tested it. works ok though. Just like the pda versions![]()
cheap web hosting ...

100% cpu usage!, your right its going to be way to sluggish for a carpc.
I rencently got hold of an old xda (for not much), and i'm thinking is there a way to run tomtom on the pda but have some sort of vnc type thing display everything on the pc.
Will the serial connection through the cradle have enough bandwith to send all the data to the pc?
Will tomtom work on a "thinclient" CE computer? this way you can run tomtom and I could develop the other carpc software around it.

If you mean by installing Windows CE on Epia Mini-ITX (which IS supported, and there are drivers for everything, including the touchscreens) no, it wouldn't work due to the fact that it's an Intel processor and Tom Tom is compiled for Arm.Originally Posted by edwin
If you mean buying, say a ARM development board, (You can get Mini-ITX ARM boards, with Windows CE) then I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work.
