    wintv usb locks

I have noticed for sometime now that my tuner wasn't working right, I havn't really used it much yet cause I listen primarialy to music, but decided I wanted to listen to the radio today and found that it tunes in and works fine for about 10 to 30 seconds, sometimes longer, then it just like shuts off. Almost as if the sound card is getting muted, but I have checked that and thats not the case. I think instead the tuner is just screwing up. I have tried different things with radiator and it doesn't seem to make a difference.

Has anybody had this problem? Could it be the hauppauge is bad?

let me get this straight: you're using RADIATOR with a WinTV card ? why ? You should install the WinTV radio application and set it's path+type in RRConfig. It will work a lot better. I have seen many cases in which Radiator freezes up with some cards/drivers (even when setup propperly)... this of course, depends a lot on which card you have..

It's exactly as I said above:

-install the WinTV radio application from Hauppauge (300Kb)
    -Select WinTV in RRConfig
-Set the WinTV RADIO path in RRConfig

The above is all you have to do. Nothing to configure in the wintv radio app and no need for radiator either. Should work as fast as the wintv radio application does. Just make sure you have one of the latest versions (i.e. 6-6). You can probably just upgrade your RR using the update tool if you installed using the installshield.

Ok, well I definitely didn't have that version of road runner, I have it now, but I'm still having the problem. I think there must be something wrong with my tuner unit, it just hums and won't tune anything in, so I'll have to contact hauppauge and see if they can figure it out. It does the same thing in just the hauppauge software as in roadrunner, so I don't think its road runner. Oh, and thanks for the minimize guino! I have wanted that from day one!!!

Maybe your antenna is not functioning.... Try connecting the antenna from the car to the appropriate inlet.

It could be as simple as pluggin the FM antenna in the TV plug. You should always test in the Hauppauge Application first (so you know the hardware works).

Question: I have the version of the USB tuner that just shows up as one USB device. Therefore, it can not be muted. This is fine for a the first launch - RR unmutes the USB device when WinTV starts, but unfortunately it says on even if I exit the radio section. Is there any way to make it go back to mute when I ext the radio section?

    Thanks,
    Dan

The WinTV Radio application is who should take care of that. Does it stop if you run it outside RR ? If it doesn't, then you'd have to make a bat file and to "restart" the USB device altogether. But this would likely have to be a "manual" process as there's no good place to automatically run such event.
