Thread: RR Doesn't Resume Music after Hibernate

    Ive noticed that when resuming I occasionally have 1 or more of the following problems:
    -Playlist shows "1"
    -Winamp does not unmute
    -Winamp does not 'fade in' (as set in RR config)

    I believe that all of these problems are caused by RR losing its connection with Winamp. Is there anything in RR's code that forces it to wait for Winamp to become fully active/ready after a resume? or atleast checks that Winamp is loaded? Any ideas as to how to tell RR to wait for Winamp to be ready (even via ONRESUME commands as a workaround)?

    Can the hibernate timer be reduced to ~10-15seconds rather than 30? Would this inconvenience anyone greatly? When resuming audio ~40seconds after PC hibernated, everything (usually - except as per top lines) works fine. However, just recently, when resuming after ~>10 mins... the audio did come on straight away (full vol) but when I pressed the touchscreen it reran the ONSUSPEND commands and also faded-in the winamp volume.

    Using the latest RR version (12/13/07) and the following settings:
    hibernateaware=true
    forcehibernate=true
    hibernatereload=false
    usbsound=false
    resumecheck=TRUE

    I have consistently received the following results:

    PC resumes <20 seconds from power down (Time from PC being off till desktop loads)
    RR auto resume audio.
    Winamp fade in works.
    Pressing TouchLCD/moving mouse 10seconds after loading does NOT trigger another onresume event.

    PC resumes <25 seconds from power down
    RR auto resume audio.
    Winamp fade in works.
    Pressing TouchLCD/moving mouse 10seconds after loading does NOT trigger another onresume event.

    PC resumes 28-32 seconds from power down
    RR auto resume audio.
    Winamp fade in works.
    Multiple onresume events are triggered (USUALLY more than 2) automatically - without any user input.
    (perhaps this is from WinXP/RR/VB fighting to load their own resume threads - as was mentioned by tjesh earlier)

    PC resumes >50 seconds from power down
    RR auto resume audio.
    Winamp volume stays at ZERO. (no fadein)
    Multiple onresume events are triggered (usually ONLY 2) automatically - without any user input.
    (perhaps this is from WinXP/RR/VB fighting to load their own resume threads - as was mentioned by tjesh earlier)

    Repeating the exact same tests (but setting resumecheck=false instead of true) yields:

    RR auto resume audio.
    Winamp fade in works.
    Pressing TouchLCD/moving mouse 10seconds after loading does NOT trigger another onresume event.

    NOTICE: These are exatcly the same results as per the first 20 & 25 second tests (where resumecheck=true) and everything worked PERFECTLY!!

    The thing is, (with resumecheckk=false) it seems not to matter when you resume the pc. In other words, it seems to work pefectly at all time spacings [20s,30s,50s,3mins,etc]!!!

    Guino> any chance that the 30second timer you wrote has a reverse logic in the code somewhere - in that it only works if <30 seconds elapse, rather than if >30 seconds?

    I have no idea why it does this, but I thought Id post my findings.
    Any one keen to very my findings please feel free and post your results.

    Away for work at the moment but will give it a try when I get back. Although the problem with the playlist not loading with newer roadrunner.exe's happens whether I hibernate or not.

    I get the winamp directsound error when resuming from standby. My issue I feel is related to all my media stored on an external drive and the operating system being on the laptops drive. When the car goes off, the power to the external is cut. The file playing at the time is from the external. So I think this causes my direct sound error. My machine standbys after 10 minutes and wakes up upon ignition start along with external.

    I already changed the settings to exactly what was documented by iceman. Is there a way to keep my setup the way it is and be able to pick back up where i left off when the external gets powered again?

    Note: In my skin i have a stop button. I generally hit that before i get out car and that is my workaround or I exit rr. Then I get no error. Sometimes I forget though and then get error when I get back in the car.
