Well, this is not as simple as the XMD interface to the PC.. the sirius receivers use inverted serial levels which will likely require some type of circuit/interface board on the cable to perform conversion to normal rs232 signaling.. I know there are some poeple that have done that... I also know that it should be possible to use any of the PCR kits, but it is more than likely that they'll have to be opened up to at least look at the appropriate pinouts... if it's hard to find the correct plug for the cable, then it may be necessary to solder the cable/interface onto the sirius box... this really isn't the kind of project that I could simply borrow the hardware and return when done... honestly, I wouldn't even try doing this myself without any help... I do know somebody very good with electronics that could put this together but the best bet would be to talk to somebody who has made such rs232 "adapter/cable" to interface with the PC... I know I can built the software pretty much the same as for the existing XM functionality, but I am not planning on doing any hardware work anytime soon...

So we just need to get you one of the PCR units with a RS232 converter. That is a very easy thing to build. I was going to buy one tomorrow to play with anyways. If I can get a TTL to RS-232 converter built and functioning with the unit I will send it your way.

Cool... I can definitely send the unit back after development is completed... I just don't want to be responsible for screwing up a device that I "borrowed" from somebody...

Awesome! I might be able to pass along some info that a person who will remain nameless sent my way.
Also - check out the Sirius Direct units - I think that would be optimal for what we're looking for. It's a no-bull solution - there's no screen or controller, just a raw sirius decoder and control unit. If we can figure out how to pass commands to it, we're golden.

TimeTrax already has the Sirius adapters. Wouldn't it just be easier to use one of those? Also, the next version of TT is supposed to be skinable. Very cool!
If they ever get them back in stock, yes the TimeTrax version would be easier. I think people waited like 2 months for the last batch...
I just want to thank you guys for doing this. I've just found this site today and was sad to see no sirius support for rr. It made me even more sad when I saw how good the xm ui looked. Reading this has inspired me to move on with my carputer. PS When you get this up and running how long before it is coded into rr.
