Jump to next track without playing

I'm using a PowerMate in the car. I have it set up so I click for play/pause, and when I hold down and turn, RR jumps to the next/prev track. Is it possible for me to keep turning and selecting tracks while continuing to play the current track until I click the PowerMate?

I know I can do this using the buttons on the playlist to move up/down a track at a time, but most of the time I have random play on, and would like to keep spinning the PowerMate until I find a track I like and then play it.

You could map the powermate to simulate "UP" and "DOWN" (instead of NEXT/PREV) then you'd basically be able to scroll through the songs and when you click it (however you do it) it would play the song you selected...
